According to twitter, OL Alex Lewis is transferring to Nebraska. I guess that means we are down to only one excess scholarship:

"@adamcm777: According to @Sean_Callahan, Alex Lewis is transferring from CU to Nebraska: http://t.co/aJtW2JPNY5 Started all 12 games for #Buffs in 2012."

We are down to zero proven backups on the O-Line. Lewis was a quality backup who could play Guard or Tackle.

Harris, Handler, Munyer, Crabb and Nembot with some kids as the backups.

I will go on record suggesting we have the least amount of O-Line depth going into the season than any team on our schedule, and possibly in D1 football.

This makes no sense, he is a starter at CU, why transfer to Nebraska and seat out a year.

Nebraska also sucks but not as bad at CU. I prefer Boulder to Lincoln, I would rather start than seat out a year and then hope to win the starting job with another school.

His dad played for the Huskers, but they never offered per Adam. He proved himself at CU and now miraculously is being welcomed into the Nub family with open arms.

Remain calm....Do.not.PANIC. Total of twelve linemen are on the roster without Lewis and three FR coming in the fall for a total of 15. Plus, there guys on the DL who could move in a real pinch. Typical college roster carries 15-18 OL; for example: FLA had only three healthy OL this spring and will have 16 total in the fall. CU is in line with that.

Now that the OL does not have to spend a full second trying to figure out complex NFL blocking calls and schemes, they should be able to read and react much faster than Water Bottle's schemes allowed.

I think people will be amazed at how much MM's simplification will help the entire offense. In spring scrimmages I attended, there were virtually no OL penalties, even with guys learning a new system. Another thing I learned, listening to comments made by Neuheisal in a pre-spring game interview: Rick observed that in MM's practices, the players were running three plays in the same time his team's practices would have run one play! No standing/fooling around. This effectively give all players that many more reps to learn the MM system. If Rick was impressed, then maybe we can be, too.

Another gem of a post from BuffEnuf. 13 scholarship OL with only four upperclassmen is nothing to worry about. Let's not even get into the overall quality in those numbers (Florida as an example? Seriously?), there is nothing in the way of experienced depth (i.e, not just numbers) on the current roster. You may not be worried, but I aam guessing Coach MacIntyre probably is right now. We almost did not have a true spring game due to lack of numbers.:wow:

Would have been a great year to have brought in a juco OL (even before this Lewis news).

We were and are going to be horrible next year, and probably the following year at least. He was going to be long gone before we are anywhere close to sniffing a bowl game let alone even resembling relevant. Somebody else will come in and fill the spot.

There are things to freak out about, but losing a junior o-lineman who helped us go 1-11 is not one of them imo. It underscores how important it is recruit O-lineman.

ITB, the issue is constantly losing upperclassmen before their eligibility is exhausted. We cannot continue to play young/inexperienced on the OL. Been doing this for 5-6 years now and the results have been disastrous.

Has a player EVER gone from CU to Nebraska before? That's pretty damn salty.

Whatevs. I like what Mac is doing a lot. If Lewis didn't agree, that's his problem and we're better off not having a cancer on the team.

We're only looking at 3-4 wins next year anyway. Just hoping to see more competitiveness out of our team. But we'll only accomplish that when ALL the players are buying into what Mac is doing.

    Best of luck kid.

From 2009-2012, we have been retaining 2 or less scholarship OL per year.

And cherry picking the most negative possible part of those quotes.

I am so proud that we have such a great professional journalist as the beat writer for CU....

No he didn't, that is Charlie McBride being quoted, another CU traitor who switched his allegiance to the Corn, lol.

Hmm...after re-reading that I think I'm dense and there probably should have been a sarcasm font...
