All in One DirecTV Hates Pac-12 Network Thread (Was Larry Scott Thread)

You should call them and let them know you are excited to make the switch but you noticed they don't carry the P12 network. Have made that call a couple times since I am not a subscriber. Let them know they are missing out on new business too.

I wonder how many people cancelling it will take to get DirecTV to buckle ?
I have told the story before, I spoke with a muckity muck at DTV. They do not care. They do not want to increase their market share in the US, so they are never going to pick up P12 unless it is practically given to them. Bang a drum, call and cancel, threaten their pets, it isn't going to change. If you are waiting for DTV to buckle it, they won't. If you want P12 you'll have to switch.

I'm going to email dtv and promise them that I will switch to DTV from Comcast (I've had for 7-8 yrs and am perfectly happy with) if theu get the PAC12 network. That's all I can do i guess.

I think SD Buff has it right here. Don't only hit them with threats to leave, contact them and promise to switch to them if they get the PAC12 Network. I really will switch even though I have no real desire to for any other reason.

I've never really understood the big deal to this. A slong as you've got high speed internet, it doesn't matter who your carrier is, every game is on somewhere, and it's all generally pretty high quality for the most part these days. Switch if you have to, of course, but none of these games are hard to find streaming.

As someone who didn't have cable for a while, this is not always necessarily the case. Sometimes the games are available online with decent streams, but sometimes they are not. Watching a grainy game 2 minutes behind the actual action sucks. It also sucks when the stream dies or the guy streaming switches the game at half time.

That makes no sense.
They believe they have all of the commercial market, and the lion's share of the residential locked up with Sunday Ticket. They see the growth in Asia and S. America. They turn down high maintenance accounts (i.e. apartments with high turnover) in the US because they are looking to offshore as much revenue as possible. Sounds strange at first, but it really isn't.

Big picture - DTV has over 20 million subscribers. Consider how much money that would put into the CU AD's distribution.

Lefty - do they really think that exclusivity with Sunday Ticket is going to last after the current contract? They can't possibly be relying on that business model.

I wish the NFL would open up Sunday Ticket to the cable companies. Sounds like it might be a possibility. Contract between NFL and DirecTV expires in 2014.

I am just telling what I was told well over a year ago....DTV hasn't budged an inch. Draw your own conclusions on how good the info is.

I know many people hate Comcast regardless (and they are ridiculously expensive), but the head of Pac 12 Networks did announce that Comcast is expanding their P12 Network carriage to add a bunch of mid-western markets so probably Chicago for sure, no word on the mid-Atlantic (DC) and Northeast though.

What sucks is that DTV does have the commercial market locked up and they appear to have decided to use that leverage as a club to beat back rising rates on sports networks, and they have apparently picked the P12 network as the poster child for that effort since the fans that want it are the same ones that won't give up Sunday Ticket and we don't have a content partner that can leverage other channels. We partnered with the cable companies instead and DTV is not in the habit of doing them any favors.

The fact that we were able to come to a deal with Dish Network of all carriers leads me to believe DTV is doing this out of spite to make a point to the sports content market rather than the fact that the P12 is asking for any sort of unreasonable or unrealistic deal. Also they just got bent over for the stupid Lakers channel operated by Time Warner, so its partly a function of bad timing and prioritizing how much they are willing to raise their West Coast rates.

DISH. End of story Local Denver company. Employs thousands in Colorado. They touch our economy in a big way, and specifically my tiny little company. Get it!

Don't forget to ask for the Hopper DVR box. Every box you buy puts a commission of $.06 in my pocket. Thank you Larry Scott. I got tuition to pay.

According to Wilner, AT&T Uverse is going to pick up the PAC12 Network in August.
Maybe that will get Comcast to start offering P12N in Houston. But probably not. U-Verse isn't available at my casa, so I think I'm going to Dish sometime next month.

Larry Scott: No DirecTV for Pac12Network this year

Pissed.

I refuse to go with comcrap. I will start looking into dish. Won't happen soon though.

Sorry but DISH treats their employees like crap, is one of the worst companies to work for in America, so I could never support them. I work in Broadcast promotions and I've heard horror stories about how people are treated there. Charlie Ergen is evil.

Now the Hopper. That's a different story. What an amazing concept. Saw the court ruled in favor of the Hopper. That's huge win...Congrats!

I can't get P12N with Uverse in my area. Maybe it's just Austin, but it's not available according to P12N website.

Edit: didn't read J.R.'s post above. If that's true, I'm going to be a happy man because U-verse offers the best intro pricing around.

Re: Larry Scott: No DirecTV for Pac12Network this year

Any word on the Pac 12 app being usable for Comcast subscribers?

You mean the Hoppah?

I wonder if there is a way to do a search to find out what bars in the metro Denver/Boulder area carry Dish or Comcast? I know of two casinos in Blackhawk that do but I don't really want to drive there to watch the away games

After that tweet, I hope every BUFF who has DTV makes the switch and tells them to GFT. They are being offered the same deal as everyone else.
