    Re: AP Ranking Week 14

    Last week's rankings in bold:

So the AP voters gave OU the biggest move up, and the expected LSU bump to #2. They don't bump Va. Tech past Georgia, and KU doesn't get the kind of big downgrade that should badly affect their BCS ranking, which has been higher than their ranking in the human polls. It will be interesting to see how that all shakes out...

i think it is bull****. there is no rule that you have to win the conference championship to be in the mnc. i truly believe uga would beat any one of those teams ahead of them. i can't stand the way all of this is handled, it makes me not really want to watch it anymore if they cannot figure it out.

I still dont understand how Hawaii is just now breaking into the top 10! That just pisses me off, I understand they are in the WAC and dont play big opponents, but first of all going undefeated this season is a big deal. They played Boise State who is ranked and is behind teams like KU who hasnt even played a team that is recieving votes other than Mizzou! They are behind a team with 3 losses (Fla), it shouldnt matter what conference you play in, if you can go undefeated at the division 1 level, you should be in the top on the rankings.

Their biggest test was vs. Washington last night and Boise State.

I think they deserve a BCS bid just to get rocked and send some other team to the Hawaii bowl :p

It still shouldnt matter who they played. OSU has played 4-8 Akron, 4-9 Washington, 1-11 Minnesota (conf game) and 3-9 Kent State.

If Hawaii was in the big east, would they have gone undefeated if they played the same non-conf schedule? I would say yes. Would they be contending for the mNC? Yes.

The bull**** of being in a "weaker" conference is old and annoying.

They barely beat LaTech, San Jose St, and Nevada.

OSU also played Michigan (9-3), Wisconsin (9-3), Penn State (8-4), etc.

Hawaii would've been a 3-4 loss team against OSU's schedule.

I can agree with that, I am not saying they should play for the mNC because I believe you should have to win your conference. But to just not be breaking the top 10 is a little absurd.

I think it's pretty fair, what was Boise this time last year against a tougher schedule? I know my alma mater played a tougher schedule in '99 and they finished at #10 in the final poll.

#142? Aren't there 119 D-1 teams? If I read that right, does that mean that at least 23 1-AA teams played a tougher schedule than the Rainbows?? :wow:

They did win their conference. But no way do they deserve a shot at the MNC game. If there were a playoff as there should be, they should have their shot to show their stuff there. Giving teams from those conferences a fair shot, but not an unfair shot, is just one of the excellent reasons for an 8 or 16 team playoff....

And what did Ohio State play? Kent State, Youngstown, Udub (same for both), and Akron. The Big 10 was not very strong this year - Michigan and Wisconsin are their toughest games and I am not sure either of those would have had over a .500 record in any of the other BCS conferences (OK, minus Big East).

Maybe they should have been jumped as well in the standings. If Georgia gets jumped that bad I think maybe they should have been jumped as well - call it an informal penalty imposed similar to the one for Georgia for not playing in a conference championship game.

I don't believe Hawaii belongs, but I also don't think OSU belongs. Either way - I hope they have to play a solid opponent so they get rolled once again.

I meant winning their conference that has a BCS berth with the win. Such as, SEC, Big 12....etc. The WAC is not a BCS conference and thats what I meant.

OSU also played Michigan (9-3), Wisconsin (9-3), Penn State (8-4), etc.

OSU is their conference champ, UGa isn't even the SEC East champ
