**** yes. Time for our team to adopt BCS's motto.... no more pussies!
Seems like this team has had one foot in the hospital since Hawk landed here, so if spring does have a lot of injuries we should be used to it.
They need to get into the physicality and of football. Too much *****footing around!
I'm stoked. Should help make for a fun Spring Game.
Saturday should be the easiest day of the week for these guys
Get used to being the hitter instead of the hittee and in the long run you have less injuries.
Under Hawk this team never developed an identity as group that would go out and hit someone, they got pushed around by teams that were smaller and less talented and beat in speed games by teams that were overall slower than they were.
I like it. That was then, this is now, we will be a team that goes out and gets physical, that uses all of our athletic ability.
Outside of all that a few bloody noses are a great way to get the kids aware that a new era is here.
We will see if he meant extensive practice contact by that...if so I am not a fan. Coaches like to turn up the intensity when they take over a program, Hawk did the same thing when he got here, the hope is some will wash out.
Bring on Senior Hit Day!
got tired of riding my bike past the practice fields and seeing us in shorts and shoulder pads.
Plus, in the end these kids are football players. To make it to D-1 football you have to love the physical contact and hitting. The ones who wince at the thought of physical practices don't belong in college football in the first place, Embo is doing everyone a favor by putting this out there!
So did GB.
The way I see it, Ebree knows he has a free pass for next year when it comes to W's & L's so he may as well go really hard in the spring, even though it may costs us some players and results in some more L's next year, if it means he can also install some toughness in the team's attitude. I'd trade a couple of W's for L's next year if it meant in 2012 we had a team that would take no prisoners.
Fantastic! I'm sick of seeing our entire defense, whenever they made a tackle, fell backwards in the process giving the ball carrier an extra yard or two. I wanna see some mother****er step up and blast the **** out of a rb in the hole.
(approximately 267 more days until hawaii game):nod:opcorn:
Bumps, bruises, sore ankles, sore ribs, sore shoulders, deep thigh bruises, are all better than ACL and MCL tears.
Embree has to de-pussify the team. It's not going to be pretty.
Glad to hear it's not gonna be easy anymore...now they can be young tough football players like they signed up to be instead of flag football players playing frog jump during the game's.....
Depussify or "Go Play Intramurals Brotha"
It's called leap frog.
Ahhh yes.... I remember that. Wish I didn't, but I do. If I recall correctly, it was followed up by a round of "get your horns out" and a lively game of slap-and-tickle.
Change is good. Just wish it happened much, much sooner.
bring on the 9-7 drill and i hope its open to the public
I imagine we'll be hearing about a few fist fights as well.
Under GB practices we much harder than playing in games, according to Samoo anyway. Injuries happen, it's a violent sport. There were some players on that team 2000-2005 that had NFL careers that never happened due to injuries in practice. **** happens.
Like who? I'd tend to disagree. 2000 medical knowledge would have fixed a majority of past "career ending" injuries. Except for of course spinal cord stuff. So my question is who pulled an Eric Lindros, and had 15 concussions in 2 years? I think that would be career ending.
Jmho but I think you are more apt to get hurt not being physical in practice. We might have some early on but the players will adjust and get used to it.
Derrick Stemrich was bad ass and would have played on Sundays but his knee was totally destroyed.
