You know what sucks? That slimeball is going to get paid for nearly destroying the conference.

Actually, I thank the slimeball for giving CU more incentive to leave.

I knew I recognized that name somewhere. If anyone thought that B12 had new life, this is the stake to the heart.

His bio says he was the Commissioner of the Big-8 in the 1970s... He must be at least in his 70s now

Neinas screwed up the Hawkins hire but he's got a long track record of success. he may be past his "game" and simply a familiar name to hold the breach for a time. stabilize things and some name value like Hank Brown as CU prez.

This. Neinas has been working in collegiate athletics for about 100 years, he's knows a thing or two. I wouldn't want him as the long term answer, but he should be able to help calm the waters in that f**ked up conference. People point to his helping hire Hawk which was clearly a miss, but he's had some hits too: Mack Brown, Bob Stoops, Mark Dantonio, Urban Meyer (twice), Les Miles, Mark Richt, and he helped get Mike Bohn to CU.

the other thing Neinas may give the XII is if you are trying to keep Mizzou which i think is paramount.....you need to establish a trust factor ASAFP....and a guy who has been around the region as long as Chuck may get MU back on the line or listening.

If I was Neinas I´d propose to rename and rebrand the Big 12. That name and logo is tarnished.

Does it really matter who the new commissioner is? UT is still running the show. Not to be a Dan Beebe apologist, but that guy didn't destroy the Big 12 (as it was), UT did. Good luck to whoever takes that job. It's got to be the most difficult conference job out there trying to appease all the other schools while doing what UT wants.

I think UT is going to be pretty quiet for a while. They just got their chain yanked pretty damn hard. They realize (or they should) that they were the cause of all the turmoil. Just a hunch, but I bet they play nice for a few years before they start to screw things up again. Ultimately, they can't help themselves. It's in their DNA to kill conferences, but I think the last year has been a wake-up call for them.

Sacky: Do really think UT is going to be quiet? Check out what that skanky douchebag Deloss Dodds is saying right now. They can't help themselves, they are what they are man. Just my opinion.

Texas revels in their ability to cause turmoil, their inability to play nice, and their percieved God-bestowed right to make the tail wag. I don't think they've woken up to anything, I think they've only become more emboldened in thier identity.

What's he saying? I do my best to ignore them.

And I could be totally wrong, but here's the deal: UT knows it's best situation is to be a member of a viable Big 12. They don't want to be in the Pac anymore than the Pac wants them here. They don't want the Big 10, SEC, ACC or anybody else for that matter. They just came within a hair of blowing up their own house. I would tend to think that might be cause for concern and some self-reflection on their part.

OTOH, it's UT we're talking about. They think they rule the world. You're probably right.

You clearly do not understand Texans if you believe this is true.

    WYO pretty much quoted Dodds.

    From yesterday:

Dodds on UT's image: "We are who we are. People say what they say. The outcome is the outcome. We're proud of ourselves."

You want to know what Texas believes? They believe they can go wherever they want, whenever they want and be in charge when they do it, evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.

Yeah, I know. What was I thinking? It's in their blood. They can't help themselves. I can't imagine what kind of person would want to be the commissioner of that conference at this point.

I do find it funny that they are asking Chuck Neinas - a Colorado guy - to help save their conference. Poetic justice, perhaps?

Would Neinas want to step into this cesspool? At 79, I would think he doesn't need the aggravation.

I know that's what they believe - but they just got a heavy dose of reality. Of course, they'll claim it was all CU/NU/A&M/OU/OSU/Baylor's fault and that they've been the ones trying to keep this conference going all along. I retract my original statement - UT will continue to be a hellified pain in the ass to whoever they're dealing with.
