not surprising considering his comments about family life. He will take a coaching job next year when his kid graduates HS. Not sure it has much to do with CU.
Good. I didn't want him either. I would worry about a guy who walked away from coaching due to burn out or whatever it was. I'd worry about his committment. I'm being honest, not flippant.
tend to agree but not completely disqualifying the possibility for being flippant. heh
Originally I was hot for Bellotti and wanted him here. But after thinking about it and hearing some of his comments, I cooled on him a good bit. Not sure if he's got the passion to build up a program again or not, his comments lately give the impression he's more concerned with family (all well and good) than spending the hours needed to really get the job done. I'm sure he's hoping for a plum Pac 12 school opening after next season.
No loss. Of all the names being tossed out he was only above Calhoun on my list.
[cough] asu [/cough]
This is what I expected. Bellotti's a professional. If he wasn't sure he was committed, he wasn't going to take a job. That's how it played out.
I was never worried that he was going to take the CU job and then give a half-assed effort.
Unfortunate - he would have been a great get
That's the process working.
His comments in the broadcast booth during the CU-OU game didn't include the kind of giddy enthusiasm I'd have liked.
Belloti has been no Bill McCartney during the HC courtship process. His loss.
Not to sad about this news. he will be at ASU next year if erickson has another losing season.
worried about Mac too then i assume?
And what do you think we are???? :smile2:
A plum job. Open this year though. I do think his kid being a senior in HS is a factor in this.
I was excited about Mac back when it looked like he might take over mid season and bring in someone to mentor. But I'm just not thinking Mac would be the best choice. If we have the money some are saying we have, we should damned well be able to bring in a big shot. I just don't like the fact that Mac would probably go, maybe, 5 years.
Too bad on Bellotti. He was near the top of my list.
Separate names with a comma.
