Big 12 helmet stickers: Week 7

News Junkie
Here are six guys who earned a helmet sticker for a job well done on Saturday:

Texas' defense: One guy can't stop Taylor Martinez. It takes 11. And Texas' defense did it like no other team had done it yet this season, limiting Martinez to just 21 yards on 13 carries and 4-of-12 passing for 63 yards. The unit didn't allow a touchdown in the Longhorns' 20-13 win in Lincoln and looked like the team we thought they'd be in the preseason. Kudos to coordinator Will Muschamp, who quipped after the game, "I'm the same idiot who called the UCLA game."

Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri: Gabbert paced his team with a fantastic performance on the road against Texas A&M, completing 31-of-47 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns, without a turnover in Missouri's 30-9 win over the Aggies.

Robert Griffin, QB, Baylor: Seriously, is anyone still talking about Griffin's knee? After running for 137 yards on 15 carries, no one should be. He helped Baylor earn a 31-25 road win against Colorado, and has Baylor exactly where they should be: Contending for a bowl game. He also completed his first 10 passes and finished 22-of-27 for 234 yards, with a touchdown and an interception.

Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma: Two minutes into the second quarter, Broyles had 10 catches for 131 yards and a touchdown in Oklahoma's 52-0 win over Iowa State. He finished with 182 yards on 15 catches. For as much attention that's gone the way of another receiver in the state of Oklahoma, Broyles reminded everyone on Saturday he's still pretty good, too.

Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State: Blackmon made one of the day's biggest plays, a 62-yard, third-down touchdown catch that put Oklahoma State up 17 and silenced a comeback in the Cowboys' 34-17 win over Texas Tech. He finished with 10 catches for 207 yards, and is unquestionably in a top-tier group of four or five players with a legitimate claim as the favorite for Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.

DeMarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma: Murray scored three touchdowns against Iowa State to tie and later overtake 1969 Heisman winner Steve Owens record for career touchdowns. Murray has now reached the end zone 58 times and counting for his career. A tip of the cap to a great four years for the Sooners' back.
