BOULDER – Multiple sources have confirmed to BSN Denver that Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Juwann Winfree has torn his ACL, likely ending his 2016 season.
It was expected that Winfree, a junior college transfer, would be a huge contributor for the Buffaloes’ offense opposite of Shay Fields on the outside. Because he has three years to play off his two years of eligibility, the junior will be back for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
A transfer from Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, Winfree initially started his collegiate career at Maryland. As a Terrapin, he caught 11 passed for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Bryce Bobo and Kabion Ento will be counted on to replace Winfree on the outside.
