What does all the public clamoring for Hawkins firing accomplish aside from allowing us as a fan base to vent? It does not help the program, players and recruits in particular.

Now Coach Mac has publically given Hawk his full endorsement. Bohn has echoed. Is this the kiss of death? Or closer to reality? The buyout is real. Plus Hawkins has brought a lot of positive change and perception around the program (aside from victories).

On the flipside, ex Buffs in the local media have come out with a "told you so" attitude. Plus, lots of loyal fans (and donors) are restless. Oh... and have you seen us on the field?

So how does our fan base look?

How does our arrogant, delusional coach look? He's in charge of this mess. Why don't you go twitter him and ask him why fans, former players are frustrated?

Buff nation being divided makes it worse?

That may be true, which is more reason why those remaining Hawk-lovers should wake up and smell the coffee, and realize his pathetic record shows no signs of improving any time soon.

And as far as the talk about fans being so negative only hurts the program, I call BS. Our neighbors to the east were highly critical of Bill Callahan two years ago and were screaming for change.

    ...Neb made a chance.

...and their new coach has already improved things.

I won't talk about our program, the university or the players who bust their ass for Colorado. However, our coaching staff as a whole is largely inept and inadequate. We need to make a change, and there's really no way around that.

What does it say about a fan base that accepts failure as a matter of course?

The Buff nation is not divided. Down to the last fan, we all want to win.

Finding a practicle way to do that is just a dialog, not a division.

I am glad you brought this up....

the patience of SOME fans is that of a 3 year old.

SOME fans here seem like they were born in my town... and moved to Denver only to spread the disease of overindulgent fandom.

What alot of fans don't realize is that there are so many other issues/ constraints than just "winning/ losing and firing."

THIS IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS.

If you are a fan of CU, then you have to support the system of college athletics. If you are not a fan of the system, there is pro football. Pro football is a business and the owner of the business can fire the coach at will.

when practicality enters this board, there will be alot fewer posts....

how exactly is the fan base accepting failure as a matter of course?

Good Lord! In this thread and the one on booing people are saying things like this. My question is when the **** did Nebraska become a benchmark for fan behavior? If I spent 10 minutes looking I could find 100 threads about how bad their fans are, how classless they are. And now, in a down time we are holding them up as an example for our behavior? idotic.

p.s. There are Husker fans on this board that I don't intend to offend with this post. I am not making a statement on you as fans, only on our hipocrasy.

I wonder why fans aren't ripping, to a great degree, things like Tabor, which only allows us to sign assistant coaches to yearly contracts? Or CU admission standards, which are some of the toughest in the Big XII. Or facilities, which are rapidly becoming the worst in the Big XII. Hell, even worse than our friends to the north. All of these things, and more, are hurting the entire AD, not just football.

But I do understand that most of those things are out of our control. Maybe it is that fans feel that they can at least affect the coaching situation.

BTW, I haven't read the Post yet, but it looks like even GB believes that youth and inexperience at key positions are the biggest culprit. So when do the "GB doesn't know **** " threads start? You know, like the "Mac doesn't know **** " threads?

Hyperbole to be sure, but my point is simply being positive and "rah-rah" no matter what really isn't going to help a struggling program. Constructive criticism has it's place in the world. If rocking the boat and being upset at failure was not allowed, Fairbanks might still be CU's coach.

I agree... some sort of criticism is warranted... booing the players isn't one of them... which unfortunately means you shouldn't boo at a game because there is no way to discern a boo at the game as to who it is intended for...... Hawk or the players.

now striking a yoga pose at the game... that would clearly be intended for Hawk........

That's a State Constitutional Amendment that broadly applies to all State institutions, not just CU. Since it would require another Amendment to modify/repeal, it's not a small undertaking.

This is something of which we should be proud.

Our lack of state-of-the-art facilities has very little to do with the on-field performance of this team.

How do you think fans would be reacting at any other program if their coach was 13-26, losing season his first 3 years and then add in the ego and big talk and the performance the first two games?

Patience? Just a winning season, but that's too much to ask  The same responses and frustration would happen at any other school.

the patience refers to the fans that want Hawk to be fired NOW.

No one has the authority to fire him immediately. College football is not a business where someone has the authority to fire the coach. It doesnt work that way.

Be mad, we all should be upset at what is going on... but this is not so clear cut on where the fault is.

And you will not get an answer because we already know it; they haven't won a game despite predicting 10 wins and they look awful on the field. This is Coach Hawkins living resume at work and he will be judged, like all coaches, by his production on the field. If they win 1 or 2 games CU can not afford to not make a change because tickets and donations will tank.

My in laws in Boise say the media, papers, BBS's continue to use and joke about the 'this ain't intramurals' comment he so famously used. As far Im concerned he can be into Zen, Wiken, or whatever he wants. But if he cant win then he is toast. If he doesn't start winning soon then he's not likely to survive.

No player is more important than the team.

No head coach is more important than the program.

    Figure it out from there.

I don't think we are divided. I think a large majority of the fan base agrees that Juice Box is not getting it done.

The record and team performace from last year through 2 games this year prove that.

"10 wins, no excuses." Juice Box says they are gonna win 10 games. The fan base wansn't even calling for a 10 win season. Most people thought 7-8 wins and a bowl would be a great season and prove that the rebuilding is working.

Juice Box brought all of this on himself.

One of the other threads. The whole everyone gets to play, have fun, and after the game everyone gets a juice box and orange wedges.

I wish I could take credit for it, but it was not me.

While that is true, whose to say that Cally wouldn't have done as well last year as Pelini?

That's the point, nobody knows. Let's say Hawk gets fired after this season and the new HC comes in and goes 9-4 next year with Hawk's players, whose to say Hawk wouldn't?

I'll say it. Hawk won't ever have a winning season in BCS-conference football, based on what I've seen from him thusfar.

Now Barnett has come out and backed the program and Hawkins in the Post today. He even takes a shot at the University. In the public eye, it adds credibility to Hawkins and makes out fan base look ridiculous.

I just don't think it is right for the Buff nation to air their dirty laundry in public. You have guys like Alfred and Klatt who bash Hawkins on the radio and call for his head. Yet I question how much they have done to help the program after playing.

The lack of victories is painful. Our team does looked unprepared/unmotivated, any other negative description that has been used ad nasuem on this board. I do question Hawk and staff for not playing the guys we were told were going to be great players and garnered the interest of schools like Texas, OU, etc. I think Bohn should force Hawk to be accountable to the fanbase for that.

As for the Cody issue, anybody that went to Spring games, practices and watched games should know Cody has always been our best option. I do question whether or not his presence did prevent us from landing a higher caliber QB.

In the end, it looks terrible with many calling for his head. So if he is the problem, what is the solution?
