This is from a BDC article this morning in a blub about a story 9 news did about J-Fly and Josh Smith the skier:

so does that mean 9 news is back in our good graces? I'm not around to see it, but I still read on-line rants about 9News leading off with stories that slam CU. Does Sally Schager still work for them?

My wife met Sally at her work the other day. She couldn't understand why I went into a complete rage when she mentioned Sally's name.

I'll defer to Plati, but that is hard to understand given the way the infotainment folks at 9"news" have stuck it to CU every chance they get.

Anything to spread the stampede man. They won't always have controversies to talk about, and raising the awareness of the Buffs in the Denver area shouldn't hurt.

Every time my wife sees him on tv (usually weekend mornings), she mentions how ugly he is and how he shouldn't be on TV.

    I love my wife!:thumbsup::smile2:

Again, I'm not around to see it, but as I understand it, the problem is that 9News has a penchant for blowing non-controversies in to drama bits, which puts CU in a bad light. A fluff piece about "Hot Tub" Hnida here, or a "where is she now" bit on someone involved in the 2004 witch hunt there.

**** 'em. 9News is no friend of the Buffs.

Fixed it. and your wife rocks.

I absolutely agree with this. They're always the first ones to jump on board of anything that even sounds like it could be remotely bad for CU. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Keep your friends close, your enemies closer.

I have no doubts that Plati's crew knows what they're doing here.

It could also have something to do with the backlash Ch 9 got over the way they handled themselves previously. There are a lot of CU alumni who were not happy with the way Ch 9 reported the 'scandal'. I suspect Ch 9 lost a good amount of viewers over the deal (they lost me, for instance). This may be a case of CH 9 looking to make some amends.

Just the same, my memory isn't that short. Screw CH 9.

I still hate Zappolo for his comments back when CSU beat us in the late 90's. The quote "looks like big time football has taken a drive up north..." or something to that affect.

I had lunch in a restaurant one day and you could hear him over everyone and it was busy that day. He's a loud-mouth, know-it-all, a-hole.

    :yeahthat:

Channel 9 is completely off my news radar. 4 and 7 both do a very good job. I'll switch back and forth from one to the other from night to night. Unless the Regbot is doing sports on 4 - then I'm headed for 7 every time...

I watch 9 in the morning, but cannot stand Drew Soicher so I refuse to watch it at 5 & 10. I watch 4 in the evenings (or the Simpsons).

One of the worst things about CH 9 is it's Mountain correspondent, Matt Reneux. As I haven't watched CH 9 for a couple years, me may be gone now. But when he was there, he'd always have the stupidest interviews. You'd see the person through a reflection in a pond, or through a rear-view mirror, or through a stained glass window, or sitting on a bench, partially obstructed by a tree, but NEVER head on, in plain view. It drove me nuts. I don't know who taught this guy how to conduct an interview, but he needs to go back to school. On the other hand, maybe that's why he's the Mountain correspondent and nothing more.
