CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Colorado soccer team’s season ended on Friday evening after falling 1-0 in overtime to No. 6 North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Buffaloes and Tar Heels played to a scoreless tie through the first two periods and then North Carolina’s Maya Worth tallied the game-winner less than five minutes into overtime. Worth scored the goal off her own rebound after it was initially set-up by teammate Danae O’Halloran. O’Halloran crossed the ball inside the box and Worth headed it toward Colorado’s goal. A Buffalo defender was in position to deflect it away, but the ball ended up back at the feet of Worth and she sent her shot into the right side of the net to give UNC the victory.

“I’m really proud of what we did, it just wasn’t enough at the end,” said Colorado head coach Danny Sanchez. “I think they [North Carolina] are everything we thought they would be and maybe a little bit more. A tough game, but that’s soccer.”
