A huge match for the Buffs, both for conference pride and NCAA tournament aspirations.

For conference play, a win would mean the worst the Buffs will finish in a tough Pac 12 conference is a tie for fourth, and there'd be a chance for a 3rd place finish (if #1 ranked UCLA defeats its rival, USC, who currently holds 3rd). Conversely, a Buffs loss could see them end up as low as a 7th place tie.

As for the NCAA tournament, the great two win weekend last week put the Buffs a little more safely within the "bubble", but only a win will, I believe, make it a pretty safe bet the Buffs will be selected. (One bracketology analysis had the Buffs as the 59th team in after last weekend, so still pretty bubbly. Although RPI and everything MIGHT be OK with a tie or loss, I still remember the Buff's men's basketball 2010/11 season, and from that time have always been nervous about being a perceived bubble team, and what the mysterious selection committee will view as important factors one way or the other.

Finally, if you're in the working world, the Buff's soccer team have (lightheartedly) nicely provided everyone with a permission slip to go to the game tomorrow- http://instagram.com/p/vCIZtpm086/. So, come on out if you can, and be loud if you do! And, Go Buffs!

Buffs keeping pressure on, but Utah with their best shot a few minutes ago saved by Scheele. Before that, two nice shots for Krauser and great header opportunity for Jerman.

Just an update on what's happening in the Pac 12- so far everything has gone the Buffs way as far as other matches this week. Therefore, after their win over the Utes, the Buffs are now insured of no worst than a solo 4th place finish in the Pac, and unless USC upsets top ranked and undefeated UCLA in their match tonight, the Buffs will either end up with a solo 3rd place finish (if USC loses to UCLA) or a 2 way tie for 3rd (if USC ties UCLA). (The Buffs were tied with the Washington schools going into today at 16 points, and they ended up tieing in their rivalry week match today. And Cal, who was one point ahead of the Buffs before this week's play, lost to Stanford yesterday.)

In any case, the Buff team and coaches should be very proud at what they've accomplished this year, as finishing so high in what is thought as being one of if not the best soccer conference in the nation (it does have the best average RPI) is a great accomplishment. Go Buffs!

Just to finish the Buff's Pac 12 "story" for the year, UCLA shut out USC 2-0, so the Buffs do end up with sole possession of 3rd place in the conference. Congrats (again) to them! ( http://pac-12.com/sport/womens-soccer/standings )

Massive finish to the regular season for the Buffs. After the home loss to WSU they were under a lot of pressure to produce and they did. The end result is the 3rd place finish in the Pac 12 and of course a return to the NCAA tourney which would have been on the bubble with a stumble in the last match.

Now, I don't know if the Buffs will be able to host a home first round match as the loss to Kent State earlier in the season might be just enough to keep them lower in the RPI than teams that get to host. Regardless, they have taken a big step by having their first winning conference record in a while. And in a brutally challenging conference at that.
