Other than the running game in the first half, this game was a giant step backward. Cody looked like a freshman. OL couldn't give him any time to throw. Receivers weren't open. Defense couldn't stop anything.

****, I hate KjSU. I'm sure Saul and his buddies will be all over this place in the next 3-4 days.

What a piece of **** game. This was terrible.

I don't think it was a giant step backward. The team, for some reason, just didn't seem too sharp mentally and didn't seem to have the intensity they have shown. Most of this game was lost on mental errors which are fixable.

Buffs looked like ****, but remember we are still a young team. Remember we were starting two true freshmen on the O-line, a RS Freshman QB, we will still see growing pains. Things still look bright.

We looked a lot better last night on the road in HAwkins second year than NU did yesterday at home in Callhy's 4th year!

Lol. Yea. that's ture. but yea... I think this'll be another wake up call for the team. I EXPECT a win now against Kansas. I just think that the team will want a win. I mean we came out and played as if we could just roll em.. it's really been the intensity of our team that has gotten us this far this season. .. And we were not at all intense last night...

    ugly game...

you definitely saw the youth come back and bite us in the ass--- penalties, interceptions, an inability to convert 3rd downs... youth, youth, youth...

the defense was extremely disappointing too and i don't blame youth so much for that--- the tackling sucked.

ah well... shake it off! we knew it was going to be a roller-coaster year.

i bet our Buffs kick the **** out of ku at folsom!

Agree with all of these. This is a young, talented team. Some days they are going to look talented (see OU), other days they will look young (see last night). I don't think any of us should be surprised to see a team starting this many freshman and sophs come out and lay an egg once in a while. I fully expect them to grow out of it - these same kids won't be losing to KjSU by 27 3 years from now.

My biggest concern is our inconsistency on offense. We just do not seem to be able to get on a roll. Last night, I don't think Hawk and his staff did the greatest of coaching and play calling. Lil' Hawk looked off most of the night. Especially on the long balls. It seems like his long passes hang up a bit too long. And one more thing, Patrick Williams' hands are made of stone.

Again, youth. Remember Hugh still had a career day running behind 2 true fosh, and J-Fly is starting to turn on. Things will get better, and we will still see some games like last night.

C-Hawk looked like the bad Brett Favre in the 4Q, gunslinging passes down field on a wing and a prayer.

The J-Fly almost TD in the back of the endzone and Williams' thread the needle catch were exciting, but ultimately futile. Nothing kills a chance of a comback more than multiple interceptions.

Prince had the Buffs on the ropes in the second half.

In hindsight, I'd have rather seen CU stay with the ground game in the 4th quarter with Nelson under center than watch C-Hawk try to pull some mythical rabbit out of the hat.

First game on the road with a very hostle crowd where Cu expected to have a good chance at winning. I don't think they thought that at ASU. Heat got to them in their heads I think.

Don't think CU kows how to handle the 3-4 D very well at this point. Was upset at the failed 4rth down attempts, but loved them in the OU game, so...have to take the good with the bad. Hated that the KSU coach says that they have to stop the run up the middle at halftime, yet we come out and run right up the middle for three or four series before figuring out that the are stacking the middle (maybe try to throw or run around the end, huh?).

Frustrated at Pwill's dropping balls. Next year there will be too many talented guys at WR for him to see the field if he keeps this up. Hated the fact that their QB had 4 tds and 7 or 8 INT's coming into this game, and yet we were not close to getting any of the balls. His WR's were wide open most of the time.

But that said, we should beat ISU, and at least one or two of our home games, plus maybe the D can do well with TTech, so I do think 7 or 8 wins is possible and a good bowl game.

Pourous D, tons of penalties.....did we bring back GB this week and noone told me???:wow:

Maybe the dreaded let down just came a week later than expected....Baylor is Baylor, afterall.

Montana State aside that was maybe the most disappointing game of the Hawkins era. Running game was a bright spot but Cody just didn't have it last night and the defense quit in the 2nd half. First time I have seen us do that under Hawkins.

Hats off to juco u, they got some speed and came ready to play last night.

Worst part is, we could conceivably lose the next 3. :sad1:

We could also win the next 3. Hopefully the KSU game teaches this young team some lessons. I think they were feeling a bit too good about themselves.

I knew this game was over when it was 10-3. The Buffs just didn't have it last night. They looked lethargic and disorganized. They looked like they didn't have a plan and even if they did have a plan, didn't know how to go about implementing it. That happens in football. I'm still encouraged about the progress the team has made and I'm optimistic for a 7 or 8 win season.

I disagree. I thought the Buffs held the tide at the end of the half.. I think that is why I thought Hawk should have punted and went in down 20-13 having the ball first in the 2nd half..

I completely missed both this week and baylor due to travel schedule but reading the box scores and the recaps i thought to my self damn, "hate to get beat like that but we are a you, real young team and these things are going to happen to us."

I'll still be really happy with 6-6 and a low level bowl.

As others have said, it was an ugly game. If you look at the final statistics, they are much closer than the score, except for penalties and turnovers.

Running game looked very good. Charles starting to live up to expectations. C-Hawk looked like a RS Freshman this time. Commentators said that it was very windy down on the field, not sure if that made a difference in the passes or not. It seemed that KSU put the ball in the hands of the receivers on short passes and let them use their speed. CU kept trying for the long ball.

Young team, it showed. 4-3 is on the optimistic side of where most fans thought they'd be right now. Meat of the schedule at home the rest of the season.

    There were some maddening things:

Sanders snapping the ball high and outside over Cody (Really, how many times is this going to happen this year?)

DiLallo's muff turned into TD for KjSU

    Williams dropping passes

    Porous D

Cody forcing passes/locking on to recievers

There are some good things though:

HC and team ran the ball well

Got a tough road game under their belts

    Eberhardt looked OK

    Overall good things:

CU is 4-3 and looking real good for bowl eligibility

Has a win over a ranked, highly ranked, OU team

    Has a shutout

Beating teams they are supposed to beat

All in all I am encouraged.

I think the confusion had a lot more to do with the lethargic look and actual lethargy. Confusion causes delays and indecision. Young kids in a very tough venue for the first time.

I think this may also explain a lot of the defense's problems. It looked like we came in with a few new looks and zone blitzes that were expected to confuse them but did more so to us. Tackling is mental and desire, if the mental isn't there due to confusion or being unsure of positioning or assignment the outcome will be sloppy.

I pretty much expected this but didn't want to admit it. The young guys are a double edged sword. I do prefer using them now and taking the lumps if it means they will be more experienced in future games and years.
