The University of Colorado women's golf team opened its spring season Saturday, sitting tied for seventh place after the first round of the Peg Barnard Invitational here at the Stanford Golf Course. The Buffs are tied with Gonzaga at 18-over par 302.

UC Davis is in the lead and the only team under par at 1-under 283 on the par-71, 6,084-yard course. Oregon sits in second place at 8-over 292 while San Jose State and Stanford are tied for third one shot back at 9-over 293 and Cal rounds out the top five with an 11-over 295. There is then another cluster of teams as the difference between sixth place (Nevada) and 11th place (San Francisco) is just five shots.
“We were a little rusty today, we had some putting issues today and that kind of thing,” CU coach Anne Kelly said. “Overall today was not a great day, but the team has been practice well, we just have to get our tournament legs under us.”
