KONA, Hawaii – In a 12 team-field that includes eight squads that rank in the Golfweek (Oct. 30) top 25, the University of Colorado women’s golf team sits tied for ninth through two rounds at the inaugural Pac-12 Preview. The No. 42 ranked Buffaloes shot 22-over par 606 (306, 300) in the first non-member tournament to be held at the par-73, 6,112-yard Nanea Golf Club.
“On the bright side have three players playing solid golf,” CU head coach Anne Kelly said. “If we start getting a few more putts to drop and get that fourth score in, that will help us. We’re in pretty good shape, we just got an 80 and an 81 for the fourth score and we can’t do that.”
Just four strokes separate the top three teams, with Washington (ranked No. 4 in the latest Golfweek rankings) claiming the top spot at 16-under par 568 (282, 286). No. 1 UCLA is just two strokes behind after shooting 14-under 570, while No. 2 USC is four strokes off the lead at 12-under par 572. Arizona (No. 12) and Stanford (No. 5) round out the top five at 4-under par 580 and 3-under par 581, respectively.
