I am really looking forward to that weekend. Should be a fun trip.
Great job by CU on that one.
How amazing would that be if we won a roadie at Cal to get things jumpstarted next season?
If you want to beat CAl you are better off catching them late in the season.
I'm beginning to think this may be a difficult ticket to score.
the stadium holds 72k and they don't sell out much last years average attendance was around 55K
Intersting that CU is bending over backwards to get fans to attend this away game...a game against a team that is in a conference we may transfer to... Coincidence? I don't think so.
something along those lines. may be a bit of a whistle test....a tryout type deal that the AD is getting behind with some effort. Buff fans represent, can't hurt our case with the Pac brass.
I thought the conventional wisdom was that if a Pac 10 move is made it would happen this summer, well before the Cal game takes place. Maybe advance sales and interest will tell them all they need to know.
yeah, that's right. they were talking June for a decision.
I am more of the opinion that this is just CU being late to teh game, these things are very easy to set up and should be done for all roadies.
damn they picked some pretty mediocre hotels. Guess it reflects the attitude of the AD in general.
The Palace is a San Francisco Landmark and I'm sure the Westin is nice.
There's a nice Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay that you could stay at. Beautiful hotel, great golf course.
CU has done this kind of thing before - set up hotel deals, had Friday night activities, etc. I remember it for Phoenix & for Athens (2 games I attended) but I'm fairly certain they had stuff going on at WVU & FSU a few years back. I think they only do it for top tier road trips though - some of the college towns probably have a tough time reserving blocks of rooms for away teams.
is it a chartered plane? transportation (airport-hotel,hotel-game,hotel-airport)?
never done one of these due to crappy big 12 destinations but SF, nice.
Ralphie road appearance? Check the FAQ...
Alcatraz is also a landmark, but I don't think you want to stay there. just so you know in hotel talk landmark = out of date rooms.
CU also is aware of how many alumni it has in both So Cal and Nor Cal. Being a quick drive up from LA/SD it's a prime away game for a lot of alumni out here.
Ok... yeah, it's not the ****ing W, but personally, I'd rather stay at The Palace than some ultrachic bs hotel. It's by no means a ****hole and it's right accross the street from The House of Shields, so that's a plus.
Whatever though, to each his own. If you want to stay elsewhere, you're free to do so. I think the two choices CU set up are fine.
Who's going to the game with this package? I ordered the tix for the game and pre-game party. I have a tie to the marriot, so i think i'll be staying at the courtyard downtown.
All i got was confirm email that I ordered, but it didn't say anything about mailing the tix? I'm assuming they are?
Got an email from the CU Alumni Association yesterday with info on the Cal game. I was impressed with the schools's onvious effort to get a big crowd to this one well in advance of the season....BUT, the email said the game was being played at Stanford Memorial Stadium. Seriously, how does no one catch this???
I was mulling this over what shall the game be called?
The Hippie bowl
Rich hippies vs. Old Hippies
Designer drugs vs street drugs
Rainbows vs Birkenstocks
It's gonna be an awesome game, i'll be there. Right down the road from me.
The Smoka Bowl?
they are fine hotels... both just heavily cater to touristas which is probably fine for a football thing, right?
they aren't hotels i'd choose to stay at if i can avoid it (and i have stayed at both).
yeah, i do like the trendy little boutique places better... and also the W... and also the peninsula. and the hopkins... and the huntington... there are a bajillion great hotels in the city but i imagine they have to try to keep the price down for stuff like this.
speaking of the W--- got upgraded to a corner suite once there... damn that was freaking nice!
i really like the huntington--- nice little bar too.
Along that same line: The Houka Bowl?
The Newly PAC'd Bowl.
Yeah, got the same e-mail. Then I started thinking, Stanford or Manhatten Ks, Stanford or Ames Iowa, Stanford or Stoolwater Ok, decisions decisions. NOT!
I stayed at the Marriot Marquee a little bit ago, they have weekend rates that are in the ~$90 range, and the hotel is very nice. The location is right downtown too, so its hard to beat.
