Cali High's Top 20 for 2012 Countdown

Scott's a 4. He has bulked up in recent photos. Give it another 16 months before he hits the court and he's going to be a beast. Variety of post moves with either hand. Could be a star.

It's so hard to think that far in the future, but the reality is that this kid is just now going into his senior year of high school.

#5 Xavier Johnson

705052.jpg

Position: Small forward
School: Price
Height: 6'6
Weight: 205
Schools Considering: Cal, San Diego State, UCLA, UNLV, USC, Utah

The next level?: Xavier has all the best California schools chasing him, as Pac 12 rivals Cal, UCLA and USC figure to be the leading contenders to snag Johnson’s services. Xavier would seem to be a perfect fit at UCLA where his athleticism would serve him well in Ben Howland’s defense system and the Bruins need wings to replace the lost production from Tyler Honeycutt. It is unclear whether the all of a sudden sour relationship between USC and Xavier’s teammate Katin Reinhardt will affect the Trojans’ chances and it also probably worth noting that the last Mater Dei Monarch to go to Cal, Gary Franklin, immediately transferred. Meanwhile, Mater Dei players in the past have had a great relationship with UCLA and Tyler Lamb had a solid freshmen year while the Wear twins will be eligible to play for the Bruins this year after transferring from North Carolina.

#15 Brendyn Taylor

163760_10150121173906565_784481564_7768301_4667825_n_1.jpg

Position: Shooting Guard
School: Fairfax
Height: 6'2
Weight: 170
Schools Considering: Penn (verbal offer) USC, San Diego State, Colorado (heavy interest, no offer)

The next level?: Brendyn could be a star at the Ivy league level. He has an offer from Penn and more interest across the league, and could make a Miles Cartwright type impact as a freshmen. However, Taylor is more then capable of being a very good D1 point guard.
