WIth all the goings on with regards to us having 2 players commit for one spot (thread incase you missed it) and the announcement that Booker will not Play in the CBI and that Tad has said this is being played with an eye towards next year - what rotations do you think we'll see?

Will talton get minutes, or not because we know what we have there?
Will XJ continue to come off the bench?
    Stalzer?

Who besides Dom gets more run with Ski not playing?

here are the minutes from the 1 game Ski missed @ Utah:

Keep in mind Scott was dinged in this game and XJ hurt himself limiting their minutes.

XT showed huge improvement last year and took a huge step back this year.
Weird situation and I don't understand the cause. His top game showed competency, but we didn't see much of that this year.

Whereas Stalzer never had much upside and plays at the same level year in and year out, Talton had clearly overtaken him in year 2 and had a decent trajectory as a contributor.

I just wonder if this is something Tad thinks he can fix or if he's seen enough.

I think a number of us wonder the exact same thing.

    Show me the huge improvement.

    ORtg%Poss%ShotseFG%TS%OR%DR%ARateTORateBlk%Stl%FC/40FD/40FTRate
    Soph96.014.914.950.352.61.810.415.326.10.91.63.52.227.3
    Frosh92.413.612.556.455.51.58.912.930.60.01.82.91.823.1

He improved. But some of that was because he couldn't have been worse his freshman year. I don't know where this comes from. It's the same as the talk this summer about how "XT can go out there, play solid D, hit open shots and not turn the ball over". Everyone kept repeating it even though every number says that is wrong.

Hate to do this to you but he could have been worse than his frosh year, pull Jr vs Frosh.

Sometimes you got to look at the game with your eyes and not just use stats. Tad used him a lot down the stretch in year 2 playing against the other team's first team, rather than garbage time. XT played significant time as a SO during the KEY moments of close games and didn't much as a FR - he would have buckled badly.

He was used less and less this way as a JR and for good reason.

I am looking forward to seeing more of Tory Miller. I really like his game and look forward to seeing it progress. I don't know if he will ever be a superstar at CU, but I think he will be a solid contributor sooner rather than later.

You're basically arguing that XT is a great player as long as we don't play him at important times.

    You know that, right?

    Not at all.
I watched him since the 7th grade and I admittedly wanted to see him do well even though he crushed my teams several times.

I'm simply arguing that he was way over his head as a Frosh. Played pretty well in important spots as a SO and showed progress. And played awful as a JR.

That's unusual. I just wonder if he had something going on. Relationship issues, injury, serious issue with a coach?

I never thought he was on his way to All-Conference, but I was seeing a lot of progress and it's not like the rate of progress slowed, he clearly digressed in many ways.

Ski has played hurt for the last month. This tourney is unabashedly for next year's team. I can see how that could go either way. I still wish he was playing though.

That is really freaking lame if he unilaterally chose not to play b-c it is a low-end conference. If he is injured and trying to recover for pro opportunities I can understand it, but if it is out of the feeling that it is an insult to play in that tourney IMHO that is a real ****ty thing for a "leader" to do. I can not fathom a leader ever doing that no matter how low the competition or tourney is.

Not gonna lie, disappointed in Ski for not playing these last few games. But I'll also admit that he's built up enough goodwill to make this decision.

The thing with Ski is that it's never simple. Even when it's simple. Is he selfish? Yes. But he also cares more about his teammates and those in his inner circle than anyone (even if they don't realize it). Is he inside his own head too much? Yes. But he's also an extrovert when he's talking smack or meeting fans. Etc., etc. He's just a different kind of dude. Whatever his reasons for deciding not to play, you can trust that they were either much more complex than we think... or incredibly simple but would make most people go "WTF, man?".

How is he not to blame as much as anybody else? Team sport?

The entire team is to blame....from the "senior leader" all the way down to the walk on. You divvy out the blame as you see fit. I tend to blame the guys that play and not do there job. The glaring problem on this years team was leadership and guard play...he isn't exempt from those two categories. Now quitting on a basketball function, "because he doesn't want to play". Class act. Im excited to see a team next year.

How do I divy out the blame as I see fit? Just a terrible argument you re trying to make. If more players had the mentality that Ski and DT had we would have been a much better team this year.

Posted this in the DT thread but has good bearing here as well:

Looking at this I'd speculate we see for certain Big minutes:
    - At the Point for Dom
    - At the three for Fletch
    - Normal minutes for Wes
    - Probably reduced minutes at the 5 for Scott with Tory picking some of that up.

Players I'll be watching to see what they get:
    - XJ
    - XT
    - Jaron

You missed the point. Stuff is always complex and simple when it comes to Ski. It's not an "or" thing.

You people thought ski was a selfish player who should come off the bench and now you're bitching about him not playing. Smdh. This is what you wanted. Now you get to see how good we are without him.

Ahhh, yes. The "you people" post. You know, because everyone that isn't you has a collective opinion that is the same silly point you do not like.
