And boom goes the dynamite. Let's get Utah in the Pac and call it a day.
A great day to be a Buff!
If it happens, I won't be surprised. Count me in the group with Sackky, Junc and others who had a hard time believeing the Whorns would go anywhere. They like being the king of their domain, even if it looks more liek a trailer park every day. The B12 had tons of potential when it started, OU, UT, NU, CU were all looking pretty good. It has turned into a giant crap sandwich because of UT the conference killer. If CU can get away clean to the Pac 10, I think that is a great outcome.
I still think this all hinges on if aTm goes to the SEC. If leave to go to the SEC, most likely UT,TT,OU,OSU and Kansas join the Pac-10
Fwiw, I just saw on ESPN that OU, OSU, Texas, and Texas Tech will join the Pac either today or tomorrow. Also that Utah has the inside track for the last spot. They said it was an imminent move so stay tuned I guess.
I saw that too. It's dueling reports now: Joe Schad vs Chip Brown. I'm fine with either outcome so maybe I can actually get some work done today..
Remember that Chip Brown is just a mouthpiece for the UT AD, so take anything they say with a grain of salt.
poor Chippy....his time is about up!
Maybe it's a way to say that A&M broke up the ten team conference.
utes rivals guy says chip is full of ****
Thats possible, but I seriously doubt that aTm has anything more then a contingency invite. I doubt they have anything to accept right now. I would assume that the SEC is waiting to see if the PAC expands to 16 before the fore sure invite aTm. They probably told aTm that if Texas et al. go West, you are in. So now there are two sides in a pissing match, who are going to have to pretend to like each other when the conference stays together next year.
I just posted this in the other thread, but Chip's backtracking now. He said on ESPN that Texas is committed to having a conference meeting on this plan. That's all.
The great thing is that whatever happens is good for CU. There is no bad option for us.
Agreed, but isn't best "Big 12 ceases to exist" and we save the $9M break-up fee?
I think this is a done deal. Texas, OU, OSU, TT, and Utah are gonna join. If it doesnt happen, Id be very surprised.
Not necessarily, because having UT and their lackeys in the Pac would present it's own set of problems. Ideally, we won't have to pay any exit penalties, but Bohn apparently said that if we do, the Pac will finance those for us, and we'd be paying them out over an extended period of time, so the impact would be minimal. Truthfully, the exit penalties are the least of our worries, IMO.
Sacky i know you hate UT but get ****ing real man... they wont control it
It means a lot less money for CU (and the Pac 10) if Texas stays in the Big 12.
History says you're wrong. If we're lucky, we'll never have to find out.
The Pac TV Network is still coming.
The Big Ten Network might merge with the Pac Network and watch the dollars come in.
Too soon to tell.
sacky we want texas... we want the money... so you can get baseball hockey and a new football coach
That may be true, but the Pac X TV network is much LESS VALUABLE without Texas, Oklahoma, etc. in the league.
After all this drama, you still want UT in the same conference as CU? I don't know what the difference in revenues between what we could get with UT and what we would stand to get without them, but if the difference is $5MM or less, I remain convinced we'd be better off without them.
we prolly go from 12 mil to 20+ mil
Even without UT from what I have read it will still just about double what CU got from the B12 (8 mil B12 vs. 14-15 mil PAC-X vs. 20-22 mil with UT PAC 16)deal this year. So **** UT.
Getting Texas into the league increases revenue by $10+ million.
Well, then ok. If that's an accurate number, then only a fool wouldn't want to go in that direction.
At the end of the day, I think it happens anyway. I think OU and A&M go to the SEC and tell UT to go screw themselves. Then we either get UT - alone, or we get UT with Utah and three randoms to round out the conference at 16. All of those are good scenarios as far as I'm concerned. There isn't a bad outcome for CU now. It's all good. Some are better than others.
Ten Million + more than right now in the B12? Ten million + more than what?
No matter what happens from here on out CU is in a better position going forward than they would have been standing pat. That's a fact. Much better than being in the Big Bevo where UT is going to dominate everything, especially the TV contract.
I think you may have been in Okie too long....
People quit throwing numbers around like you have any idea. We have no clue what the numbers will be. What we can be sure of is that Texas brings a huge fanbase and millions of televisions and thus would create a major increase in television contract revenue, and my GUESS is that the value of the revenue per team will be substantial.
