WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of April 22-28, 2013:

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: BRYSHON NELLUM, USC (RS-Sr., Los Angeles, Calif.).
Bryshon Nellum won the 200 meter and 400 meter, and ran on the winning 4x400-meter relay at the annual USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 27. He cruised to victory in the 400 with a time of 46.26. He followed up with a win in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 20.37, which is also the collegiate-leading mark, No. 4 in the world this year and No. 4 on USC's all-time list. Nellum finished his day by running the leadoff leg on the 4x400-meter relay which won with a season-best time of 3:11.62.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: EMMA COBURN, COLORADO (Sr., Crested Butte, Colo.).
Emma Coburn became the NCAA leader in the 1,500 meter and 3,000-meter steeplechase within 48 hours of the two races. She started the weekend on Friday night at the 104th Drake Relays, finishing eighth overall in the 1,500-meter in 4:11.36, which was the top time in the country at the time. She was the only collegian in the field. Two days later, she was back on the track at Stanford, Calif., at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational and running in her premier event, the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Coburn won the top section in 9:28.26, just about five seconds off of her PR of 9:23.54. The time is also the best in the world this season and more than 22 seconds faster than the second-best time in the NCAA. Coburn represented the United States at the 2012 London Olympics.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: EDGAR RIVERA-MORALES, ARIZONA (Sr., Agua Prieta, Mexico).
Edgar Rivera-Morales set a meet record and tied a venue record on Saturday at Sun Angel Stadium. He won the men's high jump competition at the Double Dual with Arizona State and Northern Arizona with a mark of 2.28m (7-5.75). That mark ties a personal best for Rivera-Morales and also tied for the No. 2 jump in UA history. He also now ranks No. 3 in the country this year and is tied for No. 6 in the world. Rivera-Morales broke a meet record that was set in 1986 and a venue record that has stood in 1994. It is the second time this season River-Morales has been selected the Pac-12 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: CHELSEA CASSULO, ARIZONA STATE (Sr., Lompoc, Calif.).
Senior Chelsea Cassulo got the day going for the Sun Devils as she set the all-time NCAA dual-meet record (according to the research on tracksuperfan.com) with her winning throw of 69.52m (228-01). The throw was just shy of her career best but took over the top throw all-time nationally in a dual or tri meet. The ASU women fell to Arizona in the Double Dual but handled Northern Arizona easily, 110-67.
