The Colorado athletic department has released the men's basketball schedule for the upcoming 2011-12 season. A Buffaloes program that seems to be on the rise faces a year of unknowns after losing their four highest scorers, including first round draft pick Alec Burks, from a year ago. But second year head coach Tad Boyle has renewed excitement around the team and fans hope the pieces are still in place for a good first run through the Pac-12 conference.
Overall the CU schedule boasts seven NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, along with six NIT opponents, four CIT teams, and one CBI opponent. Match ups for the Puerto Rico Tip-Off will be announced next month that features Alabama, Iona, Maryland, Purdue, Temple, Western Michigan, and Wichita State.
After the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, CU will return to the Centennial State with a pair of road games on Interstate 25. The Buffs will take on a pair of in-state rivals at the United States Air Force Academy (Wed., Nov. 23) and then at Colorado State (Wed., Nov. 30).
Non-conference home games are against Georgia (Mon., Nov. 28); Fresno State (Wed., Dec. 7); Wyoming (Fri., Dec. 9); Cal State Bakersfield (Mon., Dec. 19) and Texas Southern (Thur., Dec. 22).
We'll dig into this further at a later date. View the full schedule here.
