WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has voted to award the student-athletes at the University of COLORADO with the Pac-12 Sportsmanship Award for 2013-14. The group received the award for their resiliency and humanitarian efforts during and after the flooding that hit Boulder this past September.

Over an eight-day period in mid-September, Boulder received more than 17 inches of rain in what was eventually called the 1,000-year rain and the 100-year flood. More than 300 homes were destroyed, over 1,000 people had to be evacuated by air and damage to roads surpassed $150 million.

BOULDER - The Pac-12 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has voted the University of Colorado student-athletes as the recipients of the 2013-14 Pac-12 Sportsmanship Award.

The Buffaloes were honored for both their resiliency and humanitarian efforts in helping the Boulder community recover from the record rainfall and subsequent massive flooding last September.

“I can’t express enough how proud I am of our student-athletes and their well-deserved award,” said CU-Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano. “Many of them sustained flood damage to their homes and lost their possessions. Yet amid their own distress, they stepped up for the community. Their generous acts brought feelings of solace to our community’s first responders and displaced residents."

CU Athletics Assists Boulder Community In Crisis
Pac-12 Sportsmanship Award

Love it! Great to see the athletes making a difference in the community. I know personally that all of the local athletic departments send teams to Children's Hospital to brighten the days of kids who are going through some tough stuff. I've seen CU and DU there, specifically. There is so much positive that goes on beyond the fun we all get from game days.

On another note, this is the kind of PR that CU athletics needs as the season ticket and donor base is being built back up.

Hopefully they'll find a way to get the word out about this. Bolder Boulder would be a great opportunity.

very nice. thanks to all student athletes that contributed.
