Colorado Women's Basketball RPI Watch

Oregon played at Illinois tonight with Illinois winning 80 - 62. That's an immediate help to CU's rpi since CU beat the Illini on the road but long term it will probably hurt since Oregon is still winless and we play them twice during the conference season. They are down, I believe, to 7 healthy players!

Last nights Buffs win over Louisville has the Buffs up to RPI 15 on warrennolan. Three other PAC teams also in the top 20 : Stanford at 5, Cal at 6, and UCLA at 2. But the bottom teams are really down with the bottom 3 all in the 200's.

The final 2 non-conf games will drag the Buffs rpi down since they are currently #339 and #181. And then conference starts with 2 top 10 teams in Stanford and Cal.

Another ranked team upset by an unranked PAC-12 team. (The)OSU loses to WSU, in Pullman, 62-55. This is an even bigger upset than last nights CU win. OSU was 6-2, ranked #20, rpi around 55, and WSU was 2-5 with an rpi of 200+.

Great win for the conference. But still not a great day. Washington dropping a home game to UCSB (3-5 entering today) probably hurts the conference more than the Wazzu win helps.

Yeah ... just saw that. U-G-L-Y Tough to win when you shoot 21%.

That would be The Ohio State! Almost thought it was Oklahoma State.

From realtimepri.com...Currently, 5 of the top 20 are from the PAC12

Unfortunately I think Washington has fallen a bunch after their loss yesterday to 4-5 UC Santa Barbara. They are now 6-2 and Warren Nolan has them at rpi=64

Yeah. RealTimeRPI dropped Washington from #30 to #63 after yesterday. Pac-12 is incredibly top heavy. Buffs have to avoid bad losses this conference season (especially at home) and avoid getting swept by the big three. Otherwise, this could be a 3-bid league. Ugh.

#2 UCLA
#3 Stanford
#6 Cal
#18 Colorado
#57 ASU
#63 Washington
#103 Arizona
#130 Utah
#163 Wazzu
#170 USC
#199 Oregon State
#291 Oregon

UCLA at St John's into OT. UCLA was up big to start. Hope UCLA pulls it out.

UCLA pulled it out. Down by 1 with 2 seconds on the clock, inbounding under their basket, they scored on a layup off the inbounds pass to win by 1.

Brian Howell said on some ballots, they got no votes and on others they were in the teens. Now that we are ranked, our goal is to go higher and higher!

Pac-12 RPI:

#6 Conference

#2 UCLA
#3 Stanford
#8 Cal
#12 Colorado
#57 Arizona State
#63 Washington
#120 Arizona
#127 Utah
#153 Washington State
#177 USC
#213 Oregon State
#254 Oregon

Non-Conference:
#15 San Diego State (W)
#33 Louisville (W)
#58 Wyoming (W)
#92 Illinois (W)
#130 New Mexico (12/29)
#183 Denver (W)
#187 Idaho (W)
#218 UMKC (W)
#226 CSU (W)
#280 Texas A&M CC (W)
#337 Utah Valley (12/22)

Should be 11-0 with a Top 20 RPI entering Pac-12 play. Like with the men, I'm seeing 12-6 in Pac-12 play for comfort on getting a bid to the Dance. If we can go 5-4 in the first 9, then 7-2 in the final 9 would be very realistic in order to get us there. Conference is very top heavy. Not sure that there are more than 4 invites to be had from the Pac-12 this year. And if CU doesn't perform, it's a 3 bid conference with each of them good enough to reach the Elite Eight.

Stanford pulled out a close road win at #21 and previously undefeated South Carolina.

Oregon State got beat pretty badly by Michigan State in a neutral site game.

Pac-12 continues to be very top heavy.

I predict our team will get to the dance. They want to very badly because we are hosting.

#12 ranked UCLA just lost, at Pauley, to Cal St Northridge 77-72. Another hit to conference rpi / strength

It has gotten to the point where the Buffs really can't lose a conference game unless it's to Stanford or Cal (maybe UCLA & Utah on the road) without it being a bad loss.

#8 Cal helped us out with a win vs #19 Kansas. Should also move us up in the rankings from #25 if we take care of business tomorrow.

Otherwise... :puke:

USC fell to 3-6, dropping a home game against UC Davis (4-4). Pitiful. They may have more talent than we do.
Wazzu is now 3-7 after getting handled at Syracuse (11-1). No shame in this loss, but it's still another loss.
OSU dropped to 6-6 after getting pounded at Texas Tech (9-2). Same comment.
UO is now 2-9 after getting destroyed at Portland (5-7). Absolutely no excuse for this.
UDub fell to 7-3 after losing at a bad Georgia Tech (5-5). A week and a half ago, this was a Top 25 RPI team. They now suck.

So we have to win today before these kids get on planes for home. Keep your minds in the game until the last minute tickets off the clock.

Will be quite interested to see what happens with Stanford and Tennessee today after the way Tennessee got blown out of the building by Baylor.
