Could we have had any worse luck this year?

Following this Kansas State game has got me thinking... could we have played any more teams at the exact worst time of the year this season?

    1. Colorado State: Yeah, it's a rivalry game, but did you see these guys play any of their other games this year? Holy mother of god, with the exception of their game against Cal, they were HORRIBLE! Caleb Hanie had one good performance this whole season, and with the exception of one crucial pass, he was unstoppable. We caught that one good performance. Oy.

    2. Arizona State: Had to play them in 105 degree heat, were one of the few teams that had the displeasure of lining up against Torain before he got hurt, AND caught Carpenter on one of his "on" nights.

    3. Kansas State: Officiating aside, it's pretty obvious that the KState team we had to play was not the same KState team everyone else had to play (Texas excepted). If we played them during the past 3 weeks, is there any doubt that we beat them by double digits?

    4. Missouri's been good all year, and Chase Daniels has been great all year, but from what I've seen of them, they've yet to come close to producing another near perfect performance like the one they put up when they came to Boulder.

    5. Iowa State: Nebraska gets to play them after they lose to Kent State, Northern Iowa, and Toledo. We get to play them after they beat Kansas State, and narrowly lose to Mizzou and Oklahoma. And then there's the whole Clete Blakeman issue, but we've beaten that dead horse (excuse me, dead disreputable Fusker horse) enough here.

    6. Nebraska: Yeah, we won this one, but how much would we have won by if we'd played them during weeks 3-9? Instead we catch them right after the ONLY game they played that instilled them with any confidence whatsoever, and right after they lucked into having their crummy quarterback get replaced by a gamebreaker.

As I see it, the only teams we caught at a good time were Oklahoma (overconfident after their Miami game), and Kansas (clearly they've gotten more dominant as the season has wore on). On a day when both teams play average, I still don't think we beat Mizzou or Arizona State, but if we catch the Cyclones or Kansas State on any other weekend this year, we would have been bowl eligible a looooong time ago.

I guess having to overcome all of the bad timing, bad officiating, and plain old bad luck is fitting for this senior class though. They probably wouldn't have been comfortable with things being any other way.

LOL... Dude, quit thinking.. You sound like some whiny liberal with that post..

We were lucky to even beat CSU..

6-6 is our record and if not for a complete collapse in the Iowa State game we would be 7-5.. We lost the other games fair and square and if we played them all again at any other time, we would have probably lost them all..

The Buffs had every opportunity to go out on the field and make those teams think that they had very bad luck in encountering the Buffs on that day. Bottom line is, they didn't get it done. The ISU loss was certainly a bad break from the incompetent zebras at the end of the game. The rest? Seems to me the Buffs pretty much got as much or as little as they earned...

We are a young team that beat the expectations of most people after coming off an abysmal season at 2-10 and winning 6 games. One of those wins came against what was at that time believed to be the best team in the conference. That win is bookended by a deer in the headlights loss to FSU/ASU/ISU. We just couldn't beat State this year finishing 1-4 against those teams. :smile2:

Other than the Missery game, I thought we could have won every single one of them.

My point here wasn't to whine, really I'm just impressed that CU was able to gain bowl eligibility considering the number of times this year that we caught haymakers from teams that usually throw jabs.
