Don't know if you guys are aware, but CSU is having a pep rally downtown right now. Went to lunch with my best friend and we walked right by it as both of us are wearing CU gear. They had all the cheerleaders there. They had the real ram and the stupid cartoon mascot ram. They had people selling stuff.

    And 5 fans.

I thought, maybe it's just early (it was only 11:30) and things will get going during the lunch hour. So I started walking back to the office, went right by it again and it turned out I was correct. The rally was booming.

There were 8 people there this time.

I felt kind of bad for them. Until the jackass walking the sheep wouldn't move. Then I just felt bad for the cheerleaders because I knew that they would have to go somewhere else to get their needs serviced. Poor things.

8 fans? That's more than I would have expected for a goat rally. maybe they should have had a "Hate CU" rally. They might have broken 10....

You mean the CSU men (term used loosely) won't buy 12 Carls Jr. six dollar burgers for each and every one of those "cheerleaders"??? A TRAVESTY!

Good idea! Then they would've had a crowd of thousands there.

    Assholes.

You can buy a bale of hay for $6. That should do for a meal.

Stories like this really do make my stomach turn...CU and CSU recently signed a new 10 year contract and CSU fans aren't doing their part. I wonder how much it would cost for CU to buyout the series?

    :bang:

Buy it out? WTF are you talking about? Why buy out a 10 year series that will pay you millions, always be on TV, and provide an easy win every stinking year?

I can easily put up with some delusional goat fans for one week out of the year for that kind of payout. Plus, it's always good entertainment to see them sulking around after the game.

Funny...I saw an ad on one of those bicycle coaches downtown and had to take a pic...can't get it on here from my work computer though. It said..."43,000 Strong - the most alumni in denver" next to a CSU logo.

On the other hand the Cu rally was sweet!! free hot dogs chips and sodas, I picked up some schedule posters (although much smaller than in past years), some CU stickers, heard al the dignataries speak, sang the fight song, then went innside for the luncheon. Had lunch, listend to Zimmer and other people speak, awarded the 2009 Buff of the year award (Chancey Billups) and had a drawing. When Chancey spoke, he said that he is always proud to be a Buff; but he had lost some money on the buffs in recent years, and was looking forward to making his money back this year!

Coach Hawk spoake and then had a question and answer session. Zimmer said (in the background) 'I have a question but I know you won't answer it!'

The last question asked of Hawk was 'The Big 12 south has so many spread offenses-- but we have a big line and great running backs, are we going to concentrate on pounding the ball more this year?' Hawk replied 'Nope, we are going to pass on every down this year!' and grinned and walked off the stage.

Plus we got some really nice CU schedule glasses to take home. Oh, and three sets of CU pom poms for the girls. Hawk had a funny story about some Colorado kid that CU decided was too small and passed on him, and he went to Texas and tore it up last year. This was presented to a Colorado all-star luncheon or something that Hawks younger boy was invited to in Greeley that Hawk went to. Hawk thought 'A small kid that I took a pass on that is really really good-- God is trying to tell me something about Parker Orms!'

Had alot of good things to say about the RBs and said that the gameplan does not really change this year regardless if Cody or Hansen is in the game, so that is good. Last year it was 'Hasen is in, they are going to run' and 'Cody is in, they will probably pass'.

...I saw a bicycle dude with that sign too, had to turn him down, since I'd really only trust a CSU honker to bag my groceries...

Of course, didn't you all know that they were boycotting everything involved with this game? sheesh, those 8 fans must have missed the memo

Seriously, though, if you're a Ram player and you read all this about your pathetic fans, what must you be thinking?

More important still, if you're a Ram recruit and you read all this about the pathetic CSU fans, that Plan B offer from North Texas must be looking pretty good right about now...

It's all relative. The Texas/Oklahoma/Nebraska contingent could say the exact same things about the CU fans. The Buffs might (emphasize "might") get a sell-out Sunday - on a holiday weekend, in the season opener, against an in-state rival - in a stadium which holds 2/3 of what the other three sell out for every game ...

Yes, it's great to pick on the Lambs, but the Buffs and their fans still have a ways to go before we can be smug ...

I was having a similar conversation with a colleague of mine today. He brought up the fact that we're nowhere near the level of OU/NU/UT in terms of facilities, support, etc. And he's absolutely right. However, those schools have been cultivating a culture of support from fans and media for decades. We started five years ago. It's a long, arduous process that will take a long time to accomplish, but it's not impossible. Once we are able to instil a sense of passion and commitment in nearly every student that comes through CU, it will begin to improve. If we do it right (and there's no reason to expect we can't) we can work it out so that we have our own 80,000 seat stadium that sells out every week. I'm not naive to say that's going to happen in another year or two. It could take 20-30 years, but it can happen if we stick to the plan and carry it through.

Doesn't change the fact that CSU appears in a world of hurt. In the relative world, CU might not be Texas/Oklahoma/Nebraska in terms of fan support, but it sure as $^$%$$$%^#%$^# isn't CSU.

...and CU fans don't henpeck elected officials nor taunt other fanbases about taking games off-campus.
