This is actually pretty awesome for them.
 Good for them.
Yeah. Games on TV = never a bad thing.
Great move by them.
Edit: I guess the only problem with that is that it is probably not available outside of the Denver metro market.
Better than nothing. I expect they will get favorable coverage from channel 9 throughout the year now
Suzie Wargin approves....
Interesting. Seems like it would be great exposure for them in state. Obviously won't help recruiting out of state like p12 net, but they might get favorable mentions on KUSA9 (compared to CU) so that they can promote content they own. Maybe more fans make the trip up to see games as a result? But maybe more fans sit on the couch and decide not to travel to Hughes?
Anyone know how much money they get out of this? Can't be that much, but interested to know if it's more than they got from the MTN (or if it's more than CU gets for just ONE game versus CSU from the P12 TVdeal).
Just one more reason Colorado needs to win the RMS. I don't want 9 news bringing that up for every televised CSU game.
Wargin an Soicher were already CSU homers so good for them...
Terry Frei will not even have to have sattelite.
Ouch. More exposure = more embarrassment.
Good move for them.
Can help them in-state immensely. Will get alumni more involved and dramatically increase CSU exposure in Colorado.
To be honest, I am a little jealous. I would like CU to have this much exposure in Colorado. Of course, CU's PAC situation is much better, but it does suck that CU games will only be broadcast on a higher tier of cable/satellite.
Interesting tidbit: CSU is picking up production costs ($60k-70k) for the games. The can sell their own ads, but it doesn't sound like the network is paying them anything, just letting them have airtime. They are doing this 7 times. Opponent can split costs with them if they want to share broadcast.
Problem is the going rate for a 30 second ad during 0.1 rating show is $50 (OK I made that up, but it's going to be hard to break even).
Damn, CSU really is creating money from thin air.
this is great for CSU. They need to really focus on the front range and drive interest in their product. Maybe people will watch them on a local tv channel and they can then covert it to season ticket sales in the future.
Be careful what you wish for though....you must have a product worth driving interest towards for that to be successful
Let's hope they also handle the production itself, a la the Direct TV ripoff commercial. That was pure gold.
I heard they picked up some advertising from Chalmer's Big and Tall men's shop. It's a seven outlet chain in the pacific NW. Great stuff. Unfortunately, it will do them no good.
This seems good for exposure to fans on the front range but bad because it gives CSU alums even more reason not to go to Fort Collins for their home games.
I doubt anyone even watches
Maybe AllBuffs could buy some commercial air time for a 'cancel the series' ad?
I'm sure air time for this low budget cesspool coverage of CSU must be dirt cheap.
But really, CSU isn't gaining any fans from this. Beerfight and lil zozza will be watching as they duel with New Mexico in a 5-3 game. That's about it.
Just out of curiosity I looked and their game against NDSU on the 8th will be sandwiched between a Heartland re-run and the 30 Rock where Lemon makes up awards to give the Jenna and Tracey to keep them happy.
Rod Mackey, Kim Christensen and Amelia Earhart are all CU alums
Marty Coniglio is a fusker
Heartland rocks! So does 30 Rock...
