Alright, so according to this article on BuffZone CU is ranked "No. 1 in the Big 12 Conference in pass defense and have allowed only five passing touchdowns this season." So, that stat kind of surprised me!! I mean... I know that WVU wasn't passing much and FSU destroyed us on the ground, but then looking at UT and KU, I mean, they have legitimate air threats right?!

Is our Pass D really that good or are there some other stats that are skewing this rating?! I'm looking for analysis here... hahaha. I briefly looked for rushing D stats (specifically where we rank in the B12) but couldn't find any... anyone have that one?

Regardless, I'm happy because I (as many others were too) was really nervous about our secondary and really thought that would be a weakness...

After this little tidbit though, I'm feeling a bit better about Missouri... although I would like those Rushing D numbers because I know that the Kitties are getting it done on the ground too...

Well, it does sound good right now.. but we haven't played the likes of OU, TTU, Mizzou, and OSU as many other Big 12 schools already have to have their pass D stats ravished.

Here are your defensive stats and Big 12 rankings
Buffs ranked 9th in Big 12, 80th nationally giving up 160y/g on the ground

NICE! Go Ralphie Report! Excellent breakdown... I think that confirms my suspicion then... if the ground game is working for the opponent, not much reason to attack through the air... hrmm.

If we can just shut down Derrick Washington and keep Mr. TasteeBooghers contained...

We are usually pretty good against the run. Not this year

Missouri will be the best passing offense we'll face all year long. Probably better even than Texas', although not by much. If we're still the #1 pass defense this time next week, we'll be 5-3. Missouri is an extremely efficient and accurate passing machine.

We've been down by at least two TDs in the second half of four of our games and in a fifth that was close the other team (WVU) showed no desire to even try the pass. So, I think that's a little bit of where the skew comes from. UT, FSU, and KU all were able to shut the passing game down for much of the game. EWU was trying to kill clock (unsuccessfully) on the ground as well. If the games were closer, I think the stats would look fairly different.

    It helps that we played:

    CSU - Bad QB
WVU - Something like 7 pass attempts? (This game alone basically takes an entire game worth of passing stats out of the mix)
FSU - Bad QB (When we played them)
    UT - Didn't need to pass. :sad1:

That said, our defense has been solid, and showed against KSU that they can definitely hold their own. Our corners have really stepped up this year and done a great job.
