With the ban rescinded, camp destinations CU coaches will now be attending include Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Southern California, Northern California, Utah and possibly Hawaii.

So Dallas, Houston, Nawlins, LA, San Fran, Salt Lake, Phoenix, and maybe Honolulu? There are some big time players in those locations. The hawaii stop would be excellent.

The NOLA trip at least gets us in the region and is an easier trip for players in GA and FL.

Better be attracting better players this year.

Interesting that last cycle it seemed like we were going to be extremely active in Florida going forward, and now with Chev, we have essentially abandoned it and turned our focus to Texas. Not complaining, just interesting to see such a huge shift.

We have a ton of offers out right now in FL. Dunno if we have abandoned it as much as just not having much traction right now.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like we had quite a few offers thrown out in TX last year, too, but just weren't putting our top resources there. That's how FL feels to me this year and I think not having a camp down there kind of reaffirms the idea, no?

I don't know. Have to see how the cycle plays out. I think the camp down in NOLA indicates we still plan on having a presence down south.

We're recruiting Florida. We're recruiting Georgia. This summer, some of them will visit and we should gain some commits. But will never be the foundation of CU recruiting like CA, TX and CO. Nor should it be.

Nah but taking a player or two from there wouldn't be a bad thing.

That's fine, I was just saying that last cycle made it seem like FL was going to be as much a part of the strategy going forward as TX seems to be this cycle.

Hopefully they could do a camp in Jacksonville soon. Proximity wise your going to hit a ton of Supahotbeds.

Maybe a joint camp with UCF? We have a good relationship with the OC.

Seems odd to co-host a camp with another d-1 school.

I guess I'm pretty out of touch with these camps.

It just seems that you wouldn't want another upper echelon team there who may be vying for the same recruits.

    Heh. Shows what I know.

I would tend to agree. However UCF, while being D1, is not an upper echelon (p5) team. Think it would work out well actually. A lot of kids in FL choose UCF, so giving those kids an opportunity to meet the CU staff and see what CU is all about is intriguing to me.

We could do a black and gold camp in Orlando.

I don't think adding more camps is the answer. The actual on-campus camps need to be much bigger/better going forward.

Local radio guys mentioned Colorado coaches attending a camp in Oregon but it's entirely possible that they didn't know the difference between Colorado and CSU.

North Florida is. But thats not necessarily where the players are.

It's pretty much a days drive from big metro areas like Orlando, Tampa, (9hrs+ no stops), Miami (12hrs plus, no stops), even Jacksonville (7.5hrs) to NOLA. I think they need to find a camp somewhere in south central Florida.

These kids down there have their eyes on Miami, FSU, Alabama, and the rest of the SEC and ACC. They might see one Pac12 game on TV a year. They might not even know there is more America past the Miss River let alone having ever even heard of the Univ of Colorado. Getting in front of some of those kids could make a huge difference just planting the seed.

A satellite camp in central florida in the middle of June/July is about as awful as it gets.

And New Orleans is much better? (assuming you're referring to the weather)

I've never been to New Orleans so probably not. I just started sweating thinking about it.

I've only been once in late August and it was pretty miserable during the day. Never been to Florida, though, so maybe it's even worse. I like our focus in LA, but don't quite understand why we are seemingly putting more emphasis there than FL. Far more opportunity and talent there.

On Campus camps are tough for CU given our distance from major recruiting hot beds and the fact that we can't pay or assist for them to attend. I just don't see how to make it much bigger/better going forward. You've got to go to the kids, they can't come to us.

Dude. I went to High School down there. Practices were held in awful conditions in the summer before the season started. FHSAA opens practices around Aug 1. Back then you were'nt allowed to get water at some schools too. Ive been to night games in September where it was still 80+ degrees and 90% humidity. Those kids are used to playing in those conditions.

@FlaBuff could give you a lot of insight on this since he played and coached football down there.

Sweating is a way of life for Floridians. Thats why I moved away :D
