BOULDER – Senior Darcy Jerman scored her first goal of the season to lift the University of Colorado women’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Northern Colorado Sunday afternoon at Prentup Field.

Similar to their first match of the season, the Buffs came out firing on offense, creating multiple scoring chances in the first half, and were finally able to capitalize after halftime.

In the 61[SUP]st[/SUP] minute of play, Colorado’s Kahlia Hogg took the Buffs’ corner and the ball deflected off the hand of Northern Colorado keeper Kaitlin Ruff. CU’s Jerman was in perfect position at the far post to tap the ball in and give Colorado the 1-0 lead.

I watched Cal the other night. They looked good.

But at the top of the Pac-12, we may be looking up at the 2 best teams in the country.

UCLA is ranked #1, returns everyone from a national champion, and brought in a Top 5 recruiting class this year.

Stanford came in ranked #6 and all they did is go on the road to beat #18 Duke and #4 North Carolina.

For some reason, Pac-12 women's soccer doesn't get a lot of respect (especially compared to the ACC). But this might be the year the conference not only gets a 1-seed in the tourney, but pulls two 1-seeds.
