I don't know why the BDC never approves my comments, but it is annoying as ****

Bohn needs to stop getting so wrapped up in national TV games and money to play on the road. It should be a big consideration, but it sure seems like it is the only consideration far too often.

I really cannot believe we are doing another one-off game. I naively thought last year was unique due to various circumstances.

Complete fail by Bohn. Great, money. However, Michigan is now visiting a Salt Lake City instead of the Denver area (a locale where they have tons of alumni), a bigger stadium, and the most scenic stadium in the nation.

Plus, as big of an advocate as I am of lightening up the OOC schedule, we're supposed to have one big marquee opponent come in for the opening of the renovated Folsom.

Re-reading that quote from Bohn and the thing that really sticks out is that the AD was looking for an away game. Huh? Would seven games in Folsom signal the apocalypse or something?

Especially since they still owe us one from last year.

This is what is so maddening about it. We're forced to fill that game with an away game? Who says? This is ridiculous. Whatever the payout from the Michigan game may be, we'd make more by scheduling an additional home game.

So, let's assume that they schedule a home game instead. Figure 45,000 attendance for the sake of conservatism. 15,000 of that number is students, so 30,000 "paying" customers at about $50 each (after you account for seat licenses). Well, what do you know - that's $1.5MM right there. And they haven't even sold a single hot dog or parking spot.

This is an absolute disaster. Bohn has done some good things, but this is atrocious.

Add in the fact the game is a sure sellout and the lost revenue to the businesses of Boulder and surrounding areas.

then you have to subtract the costs for the payout for the opposing team. The cost of gameday prep, facilities, security, etc. I know the point you were trying to make, but it would be interesting to see what we really make for a home game.

Fine, but then you also have to deduct the travel expenses associated with taking a squad of 60+ players, coaches, etc along with all their equipment to Michigan.

Don't worry Bohn will make it a Thursday game because those midweek flights are cheaper

    As are the hotels.

I'm just happy that no one in the CU administration has thought to install payphones in the coaches' offices. :wink2:
