Well, it's that time of year again ... time for my annual pitch for CU at the Game. Each Wednesday during the season, I post a preview for that weekend's game, called the "T.I.P.S.", looking at how the Buffs match up in T-Talent; I-Intangibles; P-Preparation/Schedule; and S-Statistics. If you haven't been to the website - www.cuatthegame.com - I invite you to check it out (yes, it's free). I also invite you to join the email update list (drop me a note at cuatthegame@gmail.com) for my twice weekly updates (also free). And for those of you who have been with CU at the Game for some time, but may not have noticed, you can also get updates from Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/CUatTheGame?ref=hl) and on Twitter (https://twitter.com/cuatthegame1) Below is the first few sentences in each of the sections for the CSU preview (it's too long to post it all here). Thanks to the AllBuffs family for embracing CU at the Game. I'll CU at the AllBuffs tailgates!

    T - Talent
Enjoy it while you can, Buff fans. For most of the season, Colorado will trail in this category ...Colorado State, despite the bluster of its fans, remains very much a work in progress. Former Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain enters his second season in Ft. Collins with a team which won four games last season. It was a step up from the three consecutive 3-9 records posted by his predecessor, but those four wins came against teams with a combined record of 10-40 ...

    I - Intangibles
Last season, Jim McElwain became the first became the first Colorado State coach to win in his debut in 42 seasons. This season, Mike MacIntyre will try and become the first Colorado coach to win his debut in 18 seasons.Colorado has gone through three head coaches since Rick Neuheisel won his debut in 1995, a 43-7 rout of No. 21 Wisconsin (on the road, no less). Since then, the Buff Nation has not only seen its new head coaches lose in their first game on the CU sidelines ... but do so in spectacularly bad form ...

    P - Preparation/Schedule
For the first game of the season, this will not play as great a role as it will down the road, when bye weeks and conference rivalry games come into play. Both Colorado and Colorado State have had the same number of days to practice, both will have had equal opportunity to prepare for the other.Yet CSU still has the advantage ...

    S - Statistics
This is another category which will take on greater meaning as the season progresses. After this week, Buff fans will finally be able to look at a stats sheet, and (hopefully) not see rankings in the 100's in almost every major statistical category. The Rams also get a clean slate come Sunday, but, as this is year two of the Jim McElwain era, some of the numbers are worth noting, in hopes that they might bear fruit for the Buffs in the opener: ...

Great post...I have been reading up on both CU and CSU's camps and you brought up the CSU TE vs CU DB matchup issue which I brought up earlier on this board. I'm still very concerned about CSU's TEs. The key for CU is to stop CSU's running game and cover the TEs.

It would be nice if CU's TEs can step up this season not only in run blocking but pass catching. Of all the very good football teams that I have followed for many years including at the professional, collegiate, and prep level, teams with good TEs tend to be good teams.

I can't seem to get this to look like anything but a long run-on sentence. If a moderator could put in some paragraph endings, it would be much appreciated ...

Wait. Didn't Hawk win his debut? After all, it was CU's first DII opponent ever at home. We won that one right?

I know that one is particularly hard for you Montana. Great writeup as always.

This is good news. Going with a true frosh QB usually means only one thing; The staff thinks the veteran QB's suck, and because the team is gonna suck again this year they might as well build for the future if they ever want to have a winning season.
