Buffs get their 1st points of the championships with Abrianna Torres earning 5 points with her 4th place finish in the Women's Indoor Pentahlon.

Great results for the Buff women in the 5,000 meters, with sophomore Mackenzie Caldwell getting the win (and earning 10 points) by over 2 seconds and frosh Cayla Seligman (who I believe per CU Track Twitter was racing the distance for the 1st time) also earning 4 points with her 5th place finish.

And the men get on the board (in the 1st scored event for them), as another freshman, this time John Dressel, finishes in 3rd and earns 6 points.

Article on yesterday's action. (Today's action just starting up per the live results link in the OP.)- http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=210750998

SEATTLE — University of Colorado sophomore Mackenzie Caldwell turned in one of her best performances on Friday night, winning the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track and Field 5,000-meter run.

Caldwell won the race in 16 minutes, 32.54 seconds, two seconds ahead of Portland’s Anna Farello (16:34.55). This is the second straight year the Buffs have won the 5k as Kaitlyn Benner, who was a freshman last year, took home the title in 16:08.22.

“This is the time of year that people are trying to accomplish different things and in Mackenzie’s case, she is just practicing racing and making good racing decisions,” head coach Mark Wetmore said. “She waited until the final stages of the race, made a sound move, and no one went with her. I’m very happy for her.”
