BOULDER - Colorado heads to Fresno State on Sunday for a 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT game. The Buffaloes are looking to start their season 2-0 with their second consecutive conference game to open the year.

CU is coming off an 11-10 win at Denver a week ago. In that game, Darby Kiernan and Cali Castagnola each recorded three goals and an assist. Castagnola also set school records for the earliest hat trick and the fastest consecutive goals. Defensively, Sarah Brown paced the team with three caused turnovers, three draw controls, two ground balls and an assist on her way to earning Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week.

Fresno State is 1-1 after splitting two games on its opening weekend. The Bulldogs won 14-6 over Stetson before a 15-3 loss at home to Denver. Nicole Ortlieb scored four goals and Caroline Dineen-Carlson had three against Stetson. Lindsay Hobson scored twice against DU.

Buffs with a big 12-2 lead at halftime. Hope they keep it up for 30 more minutes!

Buffs DO keep it up in the 2nd half en route to an 18-4 win, with Kiernan leading the way offensively in goals with 4, and Lautman and Castagnola also getting hat tricks with 3 goals each. Defensively, the Buffs were led, as often, by goalie Soenksen, who stopped over 1/2 the shots (6 of 10) that went on net.

As I know I've already mentioned, with a decent % of the team finally reaching "upper classman" status this year, there's definitely a potential for a great 2016 season!
