Not the easiest way to start the 2nd half of conference play, but that just ='s 2 opportunities for a couple BIG wins Buffs!

The team needs to pull off two upsets this weekend. If they can focus, they have the talent.

Watched Stanford take down Washington last night in 3 sets. Was never close.

UCLA playing great defense both off the serve and dig, and easily beat the Buffs in the 1st 16-25. Buffs actually played the bruins roughly even the last part of the set, so hopefully they can carry that forward to make the 2nd set more competitive.

Well, in the 2nd set the Buffs START OFF even, but it falls away late, and they lose by the same 16-25 score.

Buffs HAVE TO risk more on their serve- they're getting dominated, and are still hitting .250, which isn't bad. They just aren't putting enough service pressure on what is admittedly a VERY good defensive club, and the Bruins are hitting a ludicrous .470.

Great comeback by the Buffs in the 3rd to stay alive, as they lead most of the way and take the set 25-19. Keep it up Buffs! (they did pick up the serving, and hold ucla under .100 hitting (.098 to be exact) for the set.)

Oh well. 7-11 now, Buffs take last timeout. (Bruins have gone back to digging EVERYTHING, and Buffs had a few points where their serve receive wasn't an A.)

Have to hand it to ucla in the 5th, as they play great and get the win 15-9.

UCLA whipped the Buffs in Set 5. Is it possible for this team to be consistent?
Appears that the answer to that is a resounding NO!!
When the Buffs play decent defense with blocking and digs they can compete with anyone and will frequently win. When their defense goes south as it did in the sets they lost last night, they are in a world of hurt. I believe that after the first 2 sets the Buffs had a grand total of ONE block. That won't get it done.
