AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. —University of Colorado senior Abrianna Torres won her second pentathlon of the season on Thursday at the Air Force Invitational, scoring 3,794 points.

Her total score (3,794) was over 200 points above the runner-up score, which was sophomore teammate Michaela Wenning, who recorded a second place finish with a personal best score of 3,511, over 200 points better than her previous mark (3,224). Wenning led the Buffs in the high jump, placing second with a PR mark of 5-5.75. She was also third in the shot put (34-0) and the 800 (2:28.66), fourth in the long jump (17-0.50) and seventh in the 60-hurdles (9.45).
Wichhart-Donzo also had a top five performance, placing fourth overall with 3,303 points. Her best finish was second in the long jump, but she also tied for fourth in the 60-hurdles (9.37), was sixth in the shot put (31-2.50), tied for sixth in the high jump (5-1) and was seventh in the 800 (2:36.96).
Two other Buffs, freshmen Lauren Sharpe and Rachel Sharpe, placed seventh (3,110) and ninth (2,994), respectively.
In the heptathlon, sophomore Andrew Ghizzone had a solid first day, leading the Buffs in all four events as he recorded a score of 2,630 points for sixth overall. He finished sixth in the 60-hurdles (7.31) and then earned a 20-8.50 mark in the long jump, which was fifth. Ghizzone was seventh in the shot put (32-7.50) and finished the day clearing 5-11.50 in the high jump, which was eighth overall.
Also in action in the heptathlon were freshmen Joseph Martinez and Nate Gravelding. Martinez was eighth at the end of the day with 2,438 points and Gravelding was 12th (2,206). BYU’s Kevin Nielsen leads the heptathlon with 3,024 points.
The Buffs will continue action at the Air Force Invitational on Friday.
