No not a battle between our BCS because we already know who lost.

But my question is, would you rather have an OOC schedule with 2 cupcakes and 1 respectable team or a OOC schedule with all good BCS teams?

Personally, I'd like to see our OOC schedule have 2 cupcake teams to get some free wins, boost our confidence, and make it easier to make a bowl yearly. I know this has back fired in the past (Montana State :puke:, Toledo). I know that we scheduled OSU for the money and we're locked in with Cal and Hawai'i through this year but I'd like to get this changed so we could go into conference 3-0 or 4-0 as opposed to 1-2 or 1-3 at least until we get a solid base again with Embree.

I say all cupcakes, all the time.

The Pac-12 schedule, in and of itself, will pit the Buffs against some pretty good competition.

It all depends if you can fill Folsom for those cupcake games.

double edged sword, weak schedule is why BSU never gets to where it wants. It would help drive confidence but so would beating tOSU.If you beat the big teams that is an infinitely better win for confidence and if you lose it isnt so demoralizing. I think that it needs to be easier than this year but I dont think all 3 should be cupcakes. Scheduling some teams like KSU, UNCar, Hawaii, who are teams we should beat most years but are necessarily cupcakes would be the best way to go. Scheduling a D2 school or a middle of the pack from a smaller conference does not help us if we win, and crushes us if we lose.

    Play decent/good teams.

The OOC does need to be filled with all top 25 teams, but they should never play teams that are not FBS level and I prefer scheduling from BCS conferences.

We already play CSU every effing year. How many more cupcakes can we put on the schedule.

Boise doesn't get where it wants because it plays in the WAC and plays teams like San Jose State, New Mexico State, Utah State, Idaho, etc and only play one or two real teams a year.

Need at least 1 challenge in the non-conference. I'd love to see a "Colorado Kickoff" every season where we play Nebraska or Michigan or Notre Dame (etc., etc.) at Invesco every year to open the year. After that, keep the schedule relatively light. Try to get 2 home games in the years we have 5 Pac-12 roadies against only 4 home conference games.

Boise doesn't play in the Pac 12, either.

The following 3 teams should be on our non-conference schedule every year:

    Penn State
    Temple
    Villanova

Exactly. With the WAC being so weak, and the MWC isn't much better with Utah leaving they'll never get to where they want in the rankings unless they join a BCS conference.

First priority: Get rid of CSU. Then, schedule one cupcake every year if possible. Make the rest good games.

We should only schedule at a maximum of 1 BCS noncon each year. I'm sick of watching other programs reap the benefits of easy scheduling while we are stuck behind because we played a tougher schedule and lost more games than programs like Nebraska, KSU. If Colorado is a top 25 program, Folsom will fill up pretty well regardless of opponent.

Wanting to play a tougher schedule makes NO sense. You take the easiest path possible to the ultimate goal. Don't make the road harder than necessary.

Keep CSU as a cupcake alone with another cupcake and schedule a mid-level BCS team that we can beat but if we don't win it's not the end of the world, like Georgia Tech or Kansas State.

right, my point is that most of BSU competition is bad. Say teams in the Pac-12 have a down year except for us. We go say 11-1 beating up on a weak conference and lose a close one to the number 2 team in the PAC that year, and sweeping our cupcake OOC, that puts us in a major bowl game and thats it. Our strength of schedule would not be good enough at that point to be considered for the NC. If the OOC is decent teams with one great one, then we receive a boost in SOS that may push us up to the top 4 in the BCS and give us a shot.

All hypothetical of course but SOS does matter to the computers. It needs to be a good OOC, look at ASU this year, they were 7-6 or whatever but got denied a bowl because they played 2 D2 games. Playing cupcakes does nothing for you but make your record "look" good. Its a no win situation. You win and you were supposed to, you lose and your season is lost. Play decent teams and play them at Folsom.

Since the BCS national championship game was started in 1998, the Pac-12 has been represented 3 times.

Oregon was snubbed from the 2001 BCS championship game.

Can you think of any other years a legitimate Pac-12 contender was snubbed from the BCS title game?

WE should be playing 3 teams from the bottom of their respective BCS conferences. ISU, Minnesota, Mississippi, Vandy, Duke, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Indiana, etc.

Those are all teams we should beat on any given Saturday. But if we lose its not a huge blow. Make it 2 of those teams and one top 25 in OOC and we have a very good lookin schedule to voters and the computers.

This is absolutely false. Your record is all that counts when it comes to evaluation for BCS games. 11-1 is gonna beat 10-2 for a BCS bid every time. I don't understand why this is so hard for people to understand. Look at a large portion of the teams that have played for the BCS title or in a BCS game, and for the most part a lot of them had charmin soft schedules. See Texas, Nebraska, many SEC teams. Colorado will have to play 10 games minimum against BCS teams when you include the conference championship. The schedule is tough enough in conference.

Say we go 12-0 while only 3 other teams (none are top 25 at all during the season) become bowl eligible in the Pac-12. We played CSU, BSU, and Tulane in our OOC. No way would the Conference schedule give us the strength we need and the three OOC games don't help us at all.

When CU starts going 12-0, I think we can worry about these sorts of problems.

This team hasn't had a winning season since Barnett was the coach.

Conference champs in strong conferences don't need a strong OOC you are right. Thats why tOSU gets away with it, thats why UofF gets away with it, thats why nebraska and oklahoma and texas get away with it. However SOS matters to the computers.

What if we are 5 points away from the number 2 spot in the computers? Everyone will be bitching about how we should have played a tougher schedule, and we have no one to blame but ourselves for being left out.

You are forgetting the Conference Championship that would put us at 13-0. I dont believe there has every been a 13 win team that didnt play for the BCS championship.

And if tOSU, Texas and Florida go 13-0 then what? We would want our SOS to boost us above them.

Texas cant go 13-0 and I guarantee Florida and tOSU arent playing a killer OOC schedule.

Totally different. We would be in a discussion with maybe 5 other teams instead of 70 other teams. Plus it will mean we are winning in the double digits which is great regardless.

OU plays a considerably tougher OOC year in, year out than Texas and Nebraska. Texas didn't "get away with it" in 08 when they got left out of the Big XII championship game on OOC tiebreaker with OU.
