mack brown does a wonderful job in getting players to stay for all 4-5 years of their scholarship..... it was expected, at least by me....

I guess I was hoping that Jamal Charles would provide the inspiration.

Let's see what he says later this year/early '09 after the pro scouts project his draft status. NFL money is really hard to turn down - especially if he brings home a lot of hardware this year, which it's certainly looking like he'll do.

Aren't they going to be graduating Cosby and Shipley? What about their RB that burned us? Their DE that is a 1st rounder?

Oh, Texas will still be stocked though. That's one of the perks of having great depth.

he and radio were the exceptions lately..... overall more players stay than opt out early for their chances in the No Fun League.....

true they will be losing several on defense, both DE's and a tackle I believe and one LB that is only playing p/t right now. unless sergio Kindle opts out early they will have all their seconday and lb back. on offense yes they lose cosby and shipley, but their 2 freshman WRs looked pretty good against Mizzou in the 4 wideout formation that Applewhite is responsible for putting in for the 1st time in 3 years. They have some decent RB's that underclassman and here is the kicker.... the whole o-line should be back next season and some are already calling it the nations best....

Shipley will apply for and most likely get a medical RS so he can play one more year. Then he and best friend Colt will finish as seniors together. McCoy is not someone I would ever see leaving school early, especially given the results of the guy he replaced going early to the League.

Texas loses their best OL Dockery to the NFL next year but he, Ogbonnaya and Cosby will be the only offensive losses. Defense will take a hit with Orakpo and Miller both leaving but linebackers will be a force and the young secondary should be much improved.

If Colt wins the Heisman and the National Title, somebody out there will pay a truckload of money and take him in a high draft spot.

I think he would be better served staying in college...... He could sit on a bench for awhile, or play another season..... I never think QB's are ready when they come out of college.... Matt Ryan so far is the exception to the rule.

VY said the same thing. You pull a Tiki Barber and the team starts to implode because of all of the leaving talk. UT doesn't need any more distractions right now so he's playing it the way it should be done. In the off season after he's graded then he'll make his final decision.

If he wins the Hesiman and wins the mNC then he doesn't really have anything else to prove in CFB. Sometimes it's best leaving at the top, even if he has to sit behind someone else in the NFL, I'd imagine. Winning 2 mNC would be awesome, but with the risk of injury (he's taken some nasty hits and had a few concussions already; one in HS and one against KSU) you can't take the risk and I never blame players that are graded high to leave for the NFL. Hell, I'd do it too, even if I was the QB for a CU team that had a good chance to win the mNC if I stayed.

Does anybody really see Texas that much easier or harder whether McCoy is there or not? I'm not playing down how important he is to the team this year but let's be serious for a second. It's not like getting a win in Austin in 2009 is going to be easy if he leaves early. Texas will still put incredible athletes on the field and the Buffs will still have to make huge strides between now and then to walk out of there with a win.

True but John Chiles is one-dimensional and I like that match up a lot better....

There be the key. They have a real shot at the NC game and I think he's a shoo in for top 3 in the Heisman. Once that happens there will be more than a few who will be whispering in his ear that the chance of losing all those $$$'s just isn't worth the risk. I'd lay money that he'll be reconsidering after the season's over.

Besides, haven't we heard this b4 from a tejass qb?
