D Scott? Big game for you tonight.

Who knows exactly what kind of work ethic Scott had or what kind of attitude he had.

What we do know is that he was talented enough that virtually every school in the country would have welcomed him with open arms. Most HS stars don't know what it takes to be successful at the BCS level, they were able to dominate based simply on superior athletic ablility.

One of the major responsibilities of any coaching staff is to figure out how to motivate and inspire kids to do the work needed to succeed at the next level. Every staff has a number of players who they couldn't get to perform to the expected level. Unfortunately the record of Hawkins and staff was one of much more failure than success. It seemed like the higher rated the kid was the less they managed to get out of him, almost as if they had something against the more talented kids. Daaah's explanation of not wanting anyone to take the spotlight away from #7 is as good an explanation as any.

I was very disappointed when DS didn't work out and left but considering how other top talents did under Hawk it is hard to blame him. He hasn't stood out yet at his current school but you almost wonder if he is still trying to overcome the damage done to him in Boulder.
