Dan Hawkins and the track team

That's because we're in the middle of track season right now. The NCAA Regionals are this weekend.

Yeah. I know. I also think that Coach Wetmore is responsible for as many student-athletes as anybody, when considering he is responsible for men's and women's indoor and outdoor track plus men's and women's cross country. Considering the success he's had with the 2008 Olympic trials and with Jenny Barringer, as well as the stable of current athletes, Coach Wetmore brings alot to the table.

When the coaches tour the state, there are boosters, alum, parents and future CU applicants who would benefit from Mark telling his story. And it's a good story, too.

It's a shame that someone with as much responsibility, success, and impact on the expense budget as MW didn't get the chance to rub elbows with his peers and with CU's boosters.

if i had to guess, i'd bet this isn't a blanket prohibition against guys running track. if it is like pretty much everywhere else, the staff will evaluate each player individually to see if they want to let them do it. are their grades in ok shape? are they mature enough to handle the workload rather than catching up on the playbook and on school? are they injury prone? etc.

other guys have run track under hawkins so i don't see why we are assuming that there is some set in stone rule... maybe the general rule is no track but i bet they will make exceptions.

besides, none of this matters with a lameduck staff coaching its way out the door.
