Defensive line will be interesting to watch. Maybe we get lucky and can redshirt all the freshman DL?:smile2:

Well, right now it looks like Goree, Cunningham, Kaynor and Pericak at DT. I'm still not sold on Pericak at DT, but I'm willing to see how it plays out. We may be able to redshirt Nuckols & Bonsu depending on how that rotation works out.

Herrod, Obi and Shields at DE is a concern to me. As much as I'd LOVE to see Herrod and Obi step up, even if they do, depth is an issue and I think we'll see Kasa on the field before the end of the year.

I don't wanna be harsh but our DE depth is CRAP. Herrod is the only one with substantial playing time (if you can call it that), Obi, and.....???? Shields is a tweener. The staff really swung and missed when recruiting DE's the last couple seasons. I can't believe they didn't take one in 08:yell:

Oh I know that. Props for Kasa. But they didn't take a single DE in 08 and only Obi and Herrod before that. Some guys ended up switching positions...but it looks like we have the dreaded gap in the depth chart that Hawk wanted to fix.

SR-No scholarship guys (not Hawk's fault)
    JR- Herrod
    SO- Obi
    rFR-None

Right now we have 6 DE's on the team, and one just recently moved from LB (Goldberg). 4 of the 6 are walk-ons. I don't count Shields as a DE because from what I saw at practice, he is a DT IMO. Simply put, the staff failed miserably in recruiting DE the past couple years. Sorry...but it's true. When there's only 2 scholly DE's on the team... that is bad. (Sorry syko for using your typical DL rant)

This may have something to do with the rumored switch to a 3-4.

I wish I could ask Brandison, Collins or Hawk about why they feel that Pericak is a better fit at DT than at DE.
