Denver Post: Embree, Bieniemy to Receive Five Year Deals
From John Henderson at the Denver Post:
New Colorado football coach Jon Embree has agreed to a five-year contract, his agent said this morning.
Boulder-based Jack Mills said he talked with athletic director Mike Bohn over the phone Saturday night while Bohn was in New York where Embree coached his last game today as an assistant with the Washington Redskins.
They finalized the deal shortly before midnight. Mills wouldn't give dollar figures but said the contract is for less money than what Colorado paid Dan Hawkins, who was fired last month with a five-year record of 19-39.
"He didn't get as much base," Mills said of Embree. "He wasn't quite in that position. Maybe if he wins the Pac-12 he'll get more money."
In addition, a source close to the school said new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy received a five-year contract for similar money than he had received as running backs coach for the Minnesota Vikings.
Embree is scheduled to be introduced at a press conference Monday and Bieniemy may also attend.
