Well, I'm not going to bring it in my 1000th post like BCS will in his 9000th, but this topic brings me such joy that I felt it befitting of my 1000th post in my posting nubliness.

Today is the first day that I have sheer joy in listening to these UT mouthpieces down here. They are doing their damnednest best to put a positive spin on what UT did yesterday, but they just can't do it. They try to slam CU (and NU) for leaving, but they know that we were the visionaries that the balls to make the change - UT wasn't.

Instead they're wallowing in their own greed knowing that UT will implode yet another conference while lining their own pockets. They aren't excited about the next upcoming 10 years. I believe they are relegating themselves to the fact that if not for the previous competitive nature of the old Big 12, they are basically no better than the Mountain West moving forward.

And the fact that Big 12 just became the "welfare state" of college football is also a hit to the UT hubris. :smile2:

This is such a wonderful morning. Thank you CU administration for being shrewd and visionary in your dealings with the Pac-10. Unlike our former conference members we do have hope in moving forward with the future of CU.

Now, just get visionary in your dealings with the Hawk and do whatever needs to be done with him to ensure momentum and strength for CU going into the Pac-12 in 2011!

Oh yeah, and 1000TH POST! :drink2::woot:

So, what, exactly, are they saying? What are the fan reactions?

"Texas had the chance to be the leader in huge change in the college football landscape, instead they went for greed. Great, good on them - we (UT fans) got screwed out of good football."

"We're no better than the Mountain West now."

"Great if we go undefeated, but in this weak-sister conference, no way we ever get in ahead of an undefeated Big Ten, SEC or Pac-12 team."

    "This royally sucks."

"I'm really disappointed in Powers and Dodds."

    Stuff along those lines.

What's so bad about the conference? They lost CU and NU, neither of whom have been particularly good of late.

Many UT fans are unhappy about paying very high dollar tickets to watch subpar football teams out there. The Longhorns will have to work on the OOC scheduling or they will have to slash ticket prices.

All UT has to do is schedule well in OOC and they will be fine. If they, or OU, run the table here, plus non-conference wins over some solid BCS foes, I would think that'd do the trick.

It's not like NU and CU have been putting up much of a fight in the past 5 years.

Here in Oklahoma they are saying the conference should be renamed "The Texas Ten" or "Texas and it's Nine Bitches"

Who's going to schedule UT in the OOC? They might get the occassional OSU to come to Austin, but with the way things are shaping up, nobody wants to take that chance anymore. UT will be loading up on a steady diet of Northern Texas, UTEP, Sam Houston State, NMSU, and Louisiana-Monroe. They'll continue to play the schooners in Dallas, so they'll only really get one decent home game every two years against A&M. That's a scheduling nightmare. As the rest of the conference (read: KU, MU, KSU) starts to fade, the schedule becomes weaker and weaker.

Prediction: Texas will go unbeaten and not play for a BCS title in the near future.

Of late, this is true, but nU still played them in the conf. championship last year. But there's the historical prestige associated with both schools that is now gone. Additionally, the conf. championship game is now gone. And the BCS scoring is increased by 12.5% now due to the Big XII-minus having less than 12 members, thereby handicapping Texas and any other schools within the Big XII-minus.

Scroll to the bottom for that last little tidbit.

I suspect the bigger consequence of this, which will hit the BigXII in the pocket book, is the fact that they will no longer get a second team into the BCS games each year. Besides getting a conference championship game, this is one of the reasons I've heard for the Pac 10 expanding.

If Texas goes undefeated, they'll likely play in the MNC game, much the way USC did. Just like USC, however, one slip and you're done.
