Mullen doesn't recruit. They are the best team in the state and if you want to play for the best you go to the best. Plus their education is 2nd to none. Any kids would be crazy not to want to play for them. I dont believe that leaving your local under par (both sports and education) school, to better yourself has, has any impact on your college decision. IMO.

Since you answered my question with a question, I will assume you don't know anyone who was recruited to Mullen. Because they win, they recruit? Good players want to play for winners. Did Logan recruit at other schools he has won at?

I personally know they recruit, My 8th grade football team went undefeated. Some of the other players on the team and I received letters from Mullen saying something along the lines of "if you want to continue being a champion, come to Mullen" with a list of their accolades and championships and also an invitation to come take a tour of their school including the athletic facilities.

Mullen absolutely recruits. Please don't insult my intelligence by claiming otherwise.

If they don't recruit, then why do they have kids from Pueblo on there team that drive up everyday to Mullen? Of course they recruit.

I think it's fair to ask this question about private schools and good programs in general.

Does Fairview try to get the best athletes in Boulder to open enroll down there?

Do Valor and Regis try to get the best players they can?

What about other programs that may encourage a good player to claim grandma's address as his home in order to transfer within the public system?

Or families with more resources who change residence during high school to get their kid into a more competitive program where he might win more and get more looks from colleges?

And if this is going on, do you think it is harmful or do you think it ends up benefiting the kids?

I went to a private school that recruited. We had a large benefactor that who's wife passed away and wanted to see our women's sports do well. A school of 288 mostly upper middle class white kids won 80 straight games and 5 straight Calif. state titles 2 of them in Division 1 (the highest level in CA). If it happened there in California 10+ years ago I am sure it happens here with Mullen, and soon Valor (if not already).

If my kid is offered a scholarship to go to a Mullen (or elsewhere) due to his athletic ability, you can bet I am going to take them up on such an offer if my public school is garbage. Does it make it fair for high school athletics? No. Do I care about anything other than my kids future? No. Obviously public schools can play this game through open enrollment as well, but the point is that you want the best education possible for your kids.

Recruiting among high schools has been going on for a long time. This is nothing new.

This is why I brought it up. My HS was always accused of recruiting, because we kick the **** out of everybody. We got players because we won, and winners wanted to come there. We didn't recruit, I believe everybody said we recruited to make themselves feel better after we beat them.

If you had the chance to get an education at a school like Mullen, and your parents were willing to make the sacrifice, would you go or stay in Pueblo?

Recruiting happens a lot. It happens with Valor and Mullen in football. It happened with the Highlands Ranch schools in girls basketball. It happened with Mullen in other sports. Anyone stating anything to the contrary is in denial.

Guess what? I had a chance to go to Mullen. Or Regis. Or any other private parochial school in the Denver Metro Area. I went to Boulder High. I'm much better off for having gone there, too.

Mullen recruits. Please don't even try to deny it. It makes you look stupid.

It's not supposed to happen in the public schools, but it's accepted at the private schools as a quirk in the system. It sucks for the public schools, but there isn't really anything they can do about it. Denying it happens is absurd, though. Everybody knows it happens.

Maybe I jumped the gun a bit when I said they don't recruit. I just see how much they were like my school, and we didn't. I just wanted to see what people think. If there was proof, or just saying that because they kick everybodies asses.

    yeah well we recruited.

Maybe your high-school was different, but most recruit when they dominate at that level. and if you had kids coming from far and wide that did quite "fit" with the rest of the school but were great athletes you recruited too, regardless of what you think.

My HS got busted for recruiting this year I believe, and family moved so I could go to GJHS after they changed the boundary lines.
