    yes...

where did he pull that name from ? Drew is an idot but I have to hope he didn't somehow fall into some kind of scoop because of a source that he knows from high school. The when he said Dorrell I about fell out of my chair. Seriously... where did he come up with that name??

I saw the news and he did not predict that Dorrell would be the next coach, but mearly threw the name into the mix.

Can I ask what is wrong Dorrell? He fits alot of criteria that most have mentioned on this board.

    - HC experience
    - Ex CU Guy
    - Knows the PAC 10
    - West coast ties.

Other than having an average coaching record, what else is wrong with him.

I'd take him over Calhoun & Logan but his failure at UCLA is concerning.

I have mentioned Dorrell as a possible OC and think if we don't go the Mac/EB route, he'd be a good candidate given his ties to the Colorado program and his ties to the West Coast as a former UCLA head coach.

Honestly, for once, Soicher said something useful. While Dorell is not my first choice, he is not bad.

Drew needs to spend a little less time building puzzels and molesting sea life and a little more time sports reporting.

My issue with Dorrel is that he's already failed at a school where IMO, he should have been able to succeed. Winning in Boulder would seem to be at least as tough than at UCLA. Maybe experience the 2nd time around would make the difference, but I'm hesitant to believe that. Not in my top 10-15.

What if he brings EB as OC with him?

When I mentioned that I think Dorrell is an OK candidate, I meant as an offensive coordinator. I wouldn't be pleased if he was the head coach, given that he couldn't succeed at UCLA, a location which has more built-in advantages than CU.

I like him. More as the OC with EB or Mac tho.

I am convinced Ch. 9 satisfied their special needs hiring quota by putting Soicher in the sports desk.

He doesn't excite me, but at the same time he is far from the worst name mentioned.

He wasn't successful at UCLA but realistically UCLA has not been successfull with a lot of the coaches who have gone there. At the same time I also look at the number of coaches who "fail" at their first HC job and later come back later to succeed at other places.

Not sure if that changes a lot for me. Mostly because I'd like to see an experienced OC come in here. I think Embree would make me happier than EB in that role if Dorrell is the HC

i'd take Dorrell as a recruiting coordinator in a minute. HC, my pulse doesn't jump. it's bad to take a guy who failed in the conference you are entering....it's like announcing your 2nd Tier status from the get-go.

When has Drew Soicher reported anything newsworthy? He should stick to his prognosticating seals, bobble-heads and other idiocy that keeps him at the top of the list as the most annoying, worthless news reader on television.

I'd rather take a chance on an up-and-coming coordinator than pull a retread HC off of the scrap pile.

dorrell failed at ucla badly. he had good athletes, thanks, in part, to eb and embree recruiting some real players to ucla for him. still, he did not succeed at all. the gap between ucla and usc became huge during his tenure. he showed little to no emotion on the sidelines. he was widely criticized for failing to motivate the team. the team often looked disorganized and ill-prepared. there was no apparent coaching philosophy or gameplan. dorrell is a good guy, by all accounts, but i wouldn't put him on my list of candidates for the job.

3-8/9 kinda sends that message too you know. Along with announcing our budget is not top dollar.

And they jumped from the frying pan into the fire. I guess our school isn't the only one with admin issues.

they are very similar in many important regards. they view themselves as an academic powerhouse, altho there are lots of better schools out there. they say they don't cut corners on admissions/recruiting and they point fingers at "lesser" programs who they regard as cheaters, especially the trojans. they also are cheap, cheap, and they constantly try to hire coaches below market. that is how they ended up with dorrell-- he had a ton of support among alums and former players AND he was, far and away, the cheapest option. it is also how they ended up with skippy--- he was so tainted that they could pay him on the cheap and not pay market for a proven big name.
