actually, he was talking about what Helfy did while not on the team he covers. If he was talking about what helfy was doing with his new team, obviously I wouldn't care.

    Basically, your sarcasm is fail.

I wish Helfy the best, but what evidence leads them to believe that he "can flat out coach quarterbacks"? Did they even watch CU play...ever?

He is talking up the new assistant coach that has just been hired. It happens all the time. Not sure why you care either way.

well, for every OU and WVU win and "last second loss at UGA (what did we score 10 points?)"....there's two of less positive things that could be cited.

that blurb is some pretty fast and loose sunshine.

Hey, thanks for the chuckle of the day.
Of course they are pumping sunshine,
it's just hilarious to read from their point of view.

Sorry, Helf. seemed like a nice guy, but I think it's a positive move for the buffs to be changing up the coaching staff.

    booyah!

What was Helfrich's reputation as a recruiter at CU? We've obviously done much better under Hawk, but how much of that was attributable to Helfrich?

I never got the feeling he was a huge asset in that area compared to our other coaches, but curious what other Allbuffers thought.

    :yeahthat:

He didn't bother to bring up the fact that we got shut out by Missouri, needed a defensive score to beat a D-1AA school, never made any halftime adjustments, and generally sucked balls on offense in 3 out of every 4 games he coached.

I will be watching Oregon's offense over the next few years with an eye for the oh so common Helfy problems. It will be interesting to see his effect.

Helfrich may have the title, but Chip Kelly's fingerprints are going to be all over this offense. I don't think Helfy will get the same leash he got from Hawk.

Actually, the lst part is funny. 'He can flat out coach quarterbacks'.. WTF?? Not that I have seen. Cody looks like the winner without the tools that he looked like coming out of High School. Unless Helfrich coached him there too. Whatever. They won't be thrilled with him after a couple of years. I was actually almost remembering Watson with fondness after three seasons with Helfrich.

I think the qoute should have been 'Helfrich can coach quarterbacks flat.'

    That sounds about right.

I didn't think Helfrich was that bad, but its still ridiculous to say that he was some sort of genius offensive coordinator. He's never done anything. Obviously there have been extenuating circumstances the last couple of years, but "he can flat out coach quarterbacks" ? Compared to whom? Well, Shawn Watson maybe!

I think Shawn Watson's tenure at CU was much more successful than Helf's. It's hard to compare because there was different personnel and certainly CU was void of depth and talent at QB and O-Line at the end of SW's tenure. He failed in a big way to develop Klatt's backup.

In a way, Helf going to UO under Chip Kelly is very much akin to Shawn going to coach under Bill Callahan. Both head coaches were/are going to control their teams' offense and SW seems to have learned a lot under Bill and I think Helf will benefit at Oregon.

I wish him all the luck in the world, but I'm not crying that we lost him. Change sometimes is good for all involved...
