I think ESPN started this first. With around half ownership in the SEC Network, ESPN is running commercials for SECN and even doing cut-aways to SECN analysts during broadcasts. FS1 has been doing the same with BTN. Half time on Thursday night, they went from their main show to a full BTN studio preview of this weekend's games.

I wonder if the Pac-12 has put itself too much on an island. We're already on an island geographically. With media, by keeping 100% ownership, we're also on an island in terms of promotion of the network and also in terms of having a big-muscled partner to help us force carriage on cable & satellite systems.

Anyway, those commercials and cut-aways have been annoying the **** out of me.

I think the PAC-12, with 100% ownership, is positioned well long-term.

That's a big problem with the P12 Network. With the intense fanbases of the SEC and the B1G coupled with the P12 having a natural timezone disadvantage, they need to do something extra to get more attention and respect. Instead they're doing less by being stubborn and insisting on doing it their way. Meanwhile the SEC, B1G, and even the ACC to an extent are grabbing the bulk of the attention nationally.

NBC is Notre Dame. Their cable sports network gets leftover type games.

CBS is pissed right now about how they lost the SEC and the way this is falling out. Their cable network gets about the same level games as FS1.

Doesn't CBS still have the top pick for games in the SEC?

    This.

The PAC-12 may as well not exist out here. I doubt the SEC has this problem out West. This is a big mistake that the PAC is making.

Other than a PAC team getting into the Top 4 and stomping an SEC team face to face... no one out here gives a crap and the PAC is doing nothing to change that via media/perception. The PAC is very much on an island from where I sit.

I will also add that CU went to UMASS to play a game to engage alumni. Alumni who can't watch most games CU plays on TV unless they go searching for the right carrier. CU/PAC should be searching them, not making them find CU/PAC. Don't make it a PITA for the potiential comsumer of your product to become an actual user of your product.

Not 3 or 4 years ago, I watched every game CU played on TV. No hassle.

All very true. Aside from Oregon, USC (because of their name), and Stanford somewhat, the Pac-12 is very much off the radar of college fans that I talk to around here.

There's a big issue right now with CBS not being willing to increase its pay-out following the additions of aTm and Mizzou. SEC believes it is getting screwed and most analysts think that CBS gave a deal that's below market value.

Basically, it looks like the CBS affiliation with the SEC is about over.

We didn't have a thread on this? Sorry. Assumed that we had.

I wouldn't mind giving CBS a game a week in that 3:30 time slot.

The SEC fans absolutely love Verne though.

Is ESPN.com blackballing of under-covering any games not on their networks? The only post-game stories up on ESPN's P12 College Nation blog are on Washington/Stanford. I know they weren't ranked teams but it would be nice for them to acknowledge the games were played.

I caught the promo to Sports Center and the CU/Cal game was right at the top of the feature.
