I've been watching football for years and I've never seen the amount of substiution that we do with our RB on any other team.. Even USC with 3 high VHT isn't this pronounced.

I agree with Klatt, it totally kills any flow or any rhythm in our offense. Scott made a great play on a screen pass and then they take him out.. I mean WTF? How do you built any consistency if you are constantly running back and forth from the sideline..

Eight carries for two yard Summler, one for Darryl Scott. Six for speedy, at almost 7 yards per carry.

It is hard to even get a hot hand when the RB is only in for a couple plays at a time.

The Darrell Scott saga is the greatest mystery to me. Leading up to this game, there were lots of articles about DS. Darian Hagan talked about how in the past few weeks Scott has devoted himself to film study and so forth and it is really there for him.

Then game time and he only touches the ball on kickoff returns.

I thought Klatt had a great observation when Scott had that nice one handed catch and good run on the screen play. Klatt questioned taking Scott out and felt that CU should keep him in and give him the ball on the next play since he's fired up and has some momentum. Baisically, after that play Scott had the hot hand and CU's coaching genius pulled him out of the game. WTF

I love Sumler for his 100% effort and hard work but he is clearly not a Big XII starting quality tailback. He lacks the quickness to make people miss, the speed to break a big gain from a small hole, and the ability to read his blocking and find the best route instead of just busting it up where the line in the playbook shows. In addition he does not have the speed to beat anybody to the corner and Hawk insisted on trying to run wide.

Lockridge is explosive but doesn't run through anybody or read the holes.

Speedy when healthy is tremendously quick but really not that fast. He should be the change of pace guy not the featured back. I have seen him gain yardage by making a lot of guys miss but I have not seen him run through anybody since WVU.

Scott is back there returning kickoffs, he has the total package quickness to make people miss, power to break through tackles, ability to find and hit the hole. I guess he doesn't have kiss Hawk's ass attitude enough, who knows why else he is stuck on the bench.

I think that the tailback rotation is based entirely on who Hawk thinks can best protect his son from himself. Sumler is a good blocker and decent reciever although Scott and Lock are better at that too.

Well, nobody dare say something about hagan. You go with 1 rb and spell him every now and then. This staff is clueless.

With all the substitutions, I feel like I'm watching Pee Wee football and there's a rule that every kid has got to play.

Come on Jimmy, come on man - that's just indecisive coaching. I'm listening to Buffs football on KOA - poor CJ. Everybody is calling for Hawkins replacement. He was totally out coached.

Not only did they take DScott out after the screen play, they don't bother to put him back into the game until the end of the third quarter. How the **** did he end up as the fourth string RB on this team?

I was listening for the last twenty minutes or so and it seemed like they had about 5 CSU fans call in.

WTF are CSU fans calling in to a CU postgame show for?!?

If I had to guess, the radio station wanted to keep things positive... and they put the CSU callers on the air because they were the only ones that didn't want to see Coach Hawk fired.

I've always respected and liked CJ, he's just saying it's only one game, but he is being very adamant about the fact that CU has to run the ball much better. He said he doesn't have an answer why Scott had a total of one carry. What else can he say, the guy bleeds black and gold. He's not going to rip on Hawkins. He did say if we can't run the ball , our team is not built to pass. He's basically dodging bullets.

Looked like Hawk could not just decide on something and do it. Substitution looked like a Chinese fire drill. Nobody sure about who was supposed to be in and who was supposed to be out. We had major problems just getting lined up in time to snap the ball before the clock ran out on us.

The only ones not confused were CSU. It looked like their D-linemen were keying on the snap count because they knew that Cody didn't have any time left to play with them. The biggest advantage that the O-line has on the D-line is knowning the snap count. Take that away and you lose the half step you need to get an advantage.

Add to that the fact that the offense had no rythum. The O-line never got a chance to just settle in and get a feel for what they wanted to do. Every play was different personel, different formations, first we are running wide, then we are running delays, then we are rolling out, then we are screening. Especially for a young O-line that has not had a chance to play together and develop cohesion this makes for a long night. Add to all this the idea that each back works best with a little different type of blocking and the result is that again everybody but the D is confused.

Hawk tried to outsmart CSU and came across as the idiot. There is no need to outsmart CSU. CU has superior talent and should be able to win simply executing better. Instead the players were all ****ed up and CSU went simple, out executing CU and leaving with a win.

Just a total lack of a game plan, I agree with you that he tried to outsmart CSU. He tried to win with the unexpected, but his game plan was terrible. Hawkins lost this game, not his players.

Good point and I also noticed that a lot.. Special teams guys running off the field, offense and defense, just a total lack of communication on our part..

Its almost like Hawk is playing too many guys.. I thought this ain't intramurals?

Couldnt agree more with the comments on here. Being at the game was very frustrating watching different rb and wr groupings on almost every play. I have no idea how a running game is going to get any kind of rhythm with 4 diff guys playing. Pick a RB and go with him, let the o line get a rythm blocking for him, let the runner get a feel for the game and his line, then let use the other talented rb's behind him come in for relief or change of pace.

In my opinion that guy should be D Scott. Clearly the all around best athlete, just imagine him getting 15-25 carries a game, I think great things would happen. If you gave those same 15-25 carries to Sumler (who I love) I dont think youd see near the results.

WR..... Wright looked real fast in his few plays, looking forward to seeing more Will Jeff, MCKnight dropped a couple but is solid. Cant wait for Simas to play, there is no way espinosa should be getting PT at receiver from what I saw.

I know Simmons has only been on the practice field for a couple weeks, but was very surprised they didnt have more in the gameplan for him. He clearly looked the part of potntially being a big time receiver. I saw him on the outside on a few occasions with 1 on 1 coverage and EASILY had his man beat off the line. Could be nice things to come with him.

I'm a believer in Dan Hawkins, but saw a lot that frustrated me this game.

My point of all this.. Pick your players and playmakers, and get them the ball.
