    Coach Kiseau spoke at a luncheon today. He indicated that we're going to be employing a lot more I-formation, double tight end sets. The spread isn't dead, but it will NOT be the primary offensive formation this year.

    Sounds good. As many of us have said, please pick something and stick with it. Let's create an identity.

    Coach Kiseau basically said what we've been saying all along - that with the talent we have on this team that we're built to be a downhill running team. That the "experiment" with the spread was due to the fact that 'everybody' was doing it and it was successful in other places. He also indicated that blocking in a spread offense isn't drive blocking.

    He said some other stuff, but this was the most encouraging thing I heard and I wanted to pass it along. He's extremely optimistic about the season.

    Yet another reason to be excited about a breakout season for DScott. The times he looked good last year, were primarily from the I Formation.:thumbsup:

    I think it will be a nice change from the spread that is run in Big 12. The teams aren't built to stop a power running team (smaller, faster). Let's start getting some of our monster linemen to the second level, steamroll some safeties and linebackers

    HELL YEAH!!!!! :woot: :woot: :woot::dance::dance:

    I really, really hope this carries through to the field this fall.

    I would also say this probably makes it more likely Cody remains the starter at QB. The skills where TH has major advantages over Cody are the things that are most important in the spread, especially the running threat at QB...

    I wouldn't be so sure of that. Kiesau said that if there was a game today, Cody would be the starter, but that he fully expected Hansen and Cody to battle for the starting job in the Spring and Fall. He basically said that the job is wide open. Also remember that Hansen has the stronger arm, and that in a power running game, a lot of play action is used, which would benefit the stronger QB.

    Another thing - Simas is getting straight B's and he will be participating in Spring drills. No worries about him playing next year.

    Agreed. Besides we could use TH's speed to run the option out of the I. Probably wouldn't see it much. I can hope can't I?

    that deserves another :woot:

    Don't get me wrong. I didn't mean to say that this is a guarantee CH gets the job, just that I think it improves his chances. In a spread offense, TH is really the only guy who has the tools that offense requires. In the I, CH at least is competing from a slightly more level playing field.

    Another HELL YEAH!!!! for Simas... :woot:

    Was this luncheon today the one I think it was? Whoever is in charge of that place must be AWESOME!!! :thumbsup:

    For the above situation, TH has to come into Spring Ball being that much better at running the offense (physically and mentally) or CH will be the starter.

    Yes it was, but the guy running the place had nothing to do with today's speaker.
