In a perfect world, we wouldn't have stupid things like finances to worry about and we'd be able to build whatever facilities we wanted to. So, in that spirit, and the fact that football season is still a long, long way off, discuss what kinds of things you'd like to see at CU, facilities wise, if we had a blank check to work with.

As for me? I'd like to see an expanded football stadium with about 80,000 seats. I'd like a permanent fieldhouse, complete with weight facilities, offices, meeting rooms, indoor track, olympic sized swimming pool, diving well, indoor practice facilities & training table. I'd like to increase the size of the CEC to hold around 18,000 people, and I'd like to have a regulation ice sheet installed for varsity hockey. I'd like to have a baseball/softball complex built, complete with indoor pitching mounds, batting cages, radar guns, etc. I'd like to see permanent stands put in at Potts Field so it could be used for varsity lacrosse. Along with this, I'd like to see expanded parking at the Potts / East campus facility. With an 80,000 seat football stadium, we'll need more parking.

I have no idea what all this would cost. Probably somewhere in the $250MM range. But if a guy can dream, he might as well dream big, right?

Would love to see Folsom enclosed, not sure I would like to see it at 80,000 though, a little too big IMO. Totally agree on the permanent fieldhouse.

That does it for me too. To start "small" and be football oriented, I like the indoor practice facility with training table idea best. Then, it would be sweet to see the north end of Folsom enclosed like DH wants. Would that add 25K? Probably pretty close. With more football wins, another Tharp "decade to blah blah blah" could be in order that could push proceeds to support some of the stuff you mentioned.

Oh - and demolish the fieldhouse and put like a multilevel sports complex on the parcel with indoor track and with all the football accessories.

There's a method to my madness in that 80,000 number. I think that the Denver media would have a much harder time ignoring and/or criticizing the Buffs if they were regularly drawing more people than the Broncos.

I'm not so sure they could draw a crowd of 80,000.

Boulder Buff, I hope you were joking about an enclosed stadium. The view is what makes Folsom so great.

I think he means rounding out the north end, not slapping on a dome.

I think by enclosed he meant into a bowl from horseshoe, not domed out. Correct BB?

No, right now they can't draw 80,000. That's why this is a dream. I'm dreaming of the day when they not only can put 80,000 people into the stadium, but have a waiting list for people to get season tix.

CU still does a miserable job of instilling a sense of ownership in the students as they go through their time at CU. When the students leave CU, they go on about their lives and often think fondly of their time at CU. However, right now there are tens of thousands of alumni right in the Denver Metro area. Why aren't these people season ticket holders? I went to school at CU in the late 80's - the golden years of CU football. Of all the guys in my fraternity, there are exactly TWO of us who have season tickets. If we did a better job of developing a passion for CU when the students are there, we'd have better attendance at games, regardless of opponent or record.

Troo. I suppose if even 1/10th of the alum wanted or was a season ticket holder you would have a very large waiting list.

My request is specific to the game day football experience.

Start with state of the art scoreboards, video screens, and sound system to be installed inside Folsom. Every seat should have clear sight lines to one of six hi-def jumbo tron monitors, where replays are provided from six different camera angles. A video staff keeps the monitors pumping vintage CU plays, bios & stats, web cams from ski areas, and scores from other games.

Fans enjoy free wifi access inside the stadium that has ample capacity to pull scores, surf, and stream video. Blackberries and other wireless devices should never experience poor coverage.

Pytotechics are instaled around the tops of the field house, Dal Ward and the luxory boxes that pump a brilliant display of fireworks at key moments.

The bleachers are comfortable. No more of those aluminum seats. Install posh seats with back rests and cup holders. Maybe even a beer tap that can be accessed with the swipe of a credit card.

Restroom facilities that are updated to fit the times. Ample facilities that makes waiting in line a thing of the past.

Catering and concessions that are top-shelf gourmet. Want a 16 oz rib eye and baked potato with a glass of merlot? Not a problem. Salmon? Vegitarian fare? Asian? You got it.

The best facilities improvement would be light rail that has a stop at the stadium, and connects Boulder with DIA, downtown Denver and various kiss 'n' ride locations up and down 36. Make it less of a nose bleed to drive into and out of Boulder, too. HWY 36 ought to be four lanes in each direction.

i agree on most, gotta have a hockey and bball team and lacrosse wouldnt hurt. 65,000 would be perfect and definitely enclose it. already loud at folsom and would be alot more if they enclosed it.

Alright, I'll play. The brand new fieldhouse, weight rooms, training facilities, offices, etc. will all be named after me. They will be the best in the country. Also, the jerseys will not have the players' names on the backs, just my name. There will be 8 jumbotrons, two next to each other on each side of the stadium. One of each pair will show replays and stats, the other will show different creative insults or chants to yell at the refs or opposing team.

Directly below the 1990 National Champions banner will be a statue of me. It will be in a cut out into the brick and it will be awesome. The pylons in the endzones will be mini replicas of that statue. The 10,20,30,40,and 50 yard markers will be replaced with 87. Ralphie can keep her name...for now.

No doubt that the gameday experience is awsome. Much of that has to do with the weather, the flat irons, the excitement of the fans.

It really opened my eyes catching a Mavs game at American Airlines center. Say what you want about Mark Cuban, but the man understands the merger between sports, hospitality and entertainment.

The NFL and OU/BYU will get a taste at Jerryworld this fall. In the arms race that is college football, the best programs in the nation will provide the best fan experience in the nation.

If you really want to bring 68-80K up from Denver, it will take more than a stadium. It will take a regional transportation plan to go along with it. If you have ever taken the subway to a Chicago Whitesox game, you know that drinking is a lot more fun and responsible when you are not having to drive.

Taking the El to a Cubs game is a much better experience than taking it to a White Sox game. White sox setup is about the same as the A's, Raiders, or Warriors. Wrigley is one of a kind.

True. No one would even go to a ChiSox game if there wasn't a train station. But people would still go to Wrigley.

I know you're joking with most of the specifics of your wish list, but I do agree that the fan experience inside the stadium could be dramatically improved.

The regional transportation plan you refer to is somewhat in the works. It's called FasTracks. It's a nightmare, though. It'll end up costing tens of billions of dollars more than anticipated and won't ever pay for itself.

Aw man! Don't go backsliding on the blank check provision in the preamble.

We were just getting warmed up on this whole fan experience facility improvement thing. We definately need a lazy river and a water slide. Chip should have a T-shirt cannon that also launches piss bombs and marshmello filled nails. Bring in the champaign, all-U-can eat shrimp, valet parking, a cigar room, a luxory box where a guy can get a rub and a tug, and don't forget Camp Buffalo, where the youngins can run around on an adventure quest while daddy get's his ****ing yell therapy on.

Complet the seats on the north east corner . Add another section around the south end zone. Tear down west side and put same amount of seats as east side.

PERMANENT indoor practice facility. It's a joke that csu can have one and we get a bubble.

haha. **** it, while we're at it we might as well play in space--we could be the first team ever to play in space--let's see those critiques criticize hawkin's arm when he's throwin' 97 yard bombs on the moon. oh yeah, and free popcorn.

When I am a billionaire I am going to tear down the p.o.s. field house and build up a side similar to the east side with the press boxes and suites and such. I will then expand the south side over the road, creating the first stadium with a tunnel in it. The whole top of Dal Ward will be a jumbo HD screen bigger than the new Cowboys screen.

For a finale, I will have a naked statue of myself on top of the dome on the business school.
