February 3 - National Signing Day (lots happening)

The Buffs also need a QB and play calling to make that work. I believe they have talent at the WR position, they need to utilize it better. Winfree would be an immediate help though and probably would be a Top 2 WR on this team. I would not turn him down over a developmental guy that we are the only P5 offer on. :)
I really like Bobo and think he could be really good, but something up there. Ross is so inconsistent you can't rely on him at all. Obviously, Fields is our number one. Past that, we have no idea what we have. Not a good position to be in.

Bringing in Julmisse to the mix, adding Jan and Ento. Really wanted Winfree though.

At this point we aren't talented enough to reject talent at any position.

We would love to have talent balance out but I'm fine with bringing in the best athletes we can get and let them and coaches figure out how to use them once they are here.

Lee is a slot guy that should stay there. It sounds like Julmisse will be doing the same thing Lee does but with more size. Huntley is a legit recruit. It sounds like Ento is a very solid JUCO kid. Fields is number one, Ross is someone I wouldn't rely on and Bobo has a lot of desire to be better, I believe he makes that step to being a legit threat more than once every other game.

I'm not sure Ross, Bobo or Walker figure into future plans, given how many Jucos we are after with such a limited number of scholarships.

Bored at 5am so updated what 'Nik started here for what seems to be the last few recruits that are still in play... Snapshot (mostly for those who are not able to stay as closely tuned in as others on this last 4+ days of the 2016 class) - as of Saturday morning 1/30:

Beau Bisharat - CA 4* ATH who decommited recently from Stanford with just over a week before signing day. Has visited ASU and CU. Dad played at Oregon (will they come after him)?
Ronnie "Moss" Turner - CA unrated WR who OV'd to CU on 1/15 and seems to favor the Buffs. But he's on an OV to Cincinnati last weekend and has an OV to Miss State on 1/29. This one could go to the end. Free Rivals article.
Dejon Harris - LA 3* ILB who has been committed to Arkansas since May. OV'd to CU on 1/15, then Arkansas 1/22 (with no interviews since), and may be visiting Alabama on 1/29. Decision could go until signing day. Free Rivals article. Part of group of 3 visitors from John Ehret HS (CU commit Baham and recent AZ commit Wallace).
Lorenzo Burns - Temecula, CA 3* ATH (DB or WR) who OV'd to Arizona on 12/11 and recently OV'd to CU on 1/15. Also has Cal in his final 3. He has made his decision, but won't disclose until NSD. Has played it close to the vest.
Juwann Winfree - KS 4* juco WR is taking an OV to CU on 1/22 after giving a verbal to Pitt, which he had visited on 12/11. Winfree signed with Maryland out of high school (big time National Recruit) and Pitt had been in the running for his signature at that time. Buffs hoping to flip. From Englewood NJ, across the Hudson from Yonkers (essentially NYC suburb). Winfree has not gone public with any change in his commitment or what his plans are.
Keanu Saleapaga - CA 3* DE took an OV to CU on 1/22. Former verbal to USC who opened his recruiting up. Played for Moschetti at La Mirada HS. Keanu is expected to take a final OV to BYU on 1/29 and then decide between BYU and CU. Keanu is not LDS.
Eric Mitchell - FL 3* DE/OLB decommitted from Florida and has visited Louisville on 1/15, UCF on (1/22) and was scheduled to visit Toledo on 1/29. Mitchell gave an interview on 1/21 with local media announcing a final 3 of Louisville, UCF and Colorado... so speculation is that he might change his 1/29 OV to come to CU instead of Toledo.
Pookie Maka - UT 3* LB. Visited BYU 1/22 and visiting CU 1/29. Pookie is not LDS. Will decide between those two.
Fua Pututau - UT 3* LB. Visited CU 1/29 and visited BYU & Utah. Fua will likely go on a 2 year LDS mission.

If I could only have one from your list it would be Saleapaga.
Yeah tough call between him and Bisharat. Both would be great signings and could help somewhere immediately.

Great work. Where do Pookie Maka and Fua Pututau fit in with this group? Fua is obviously LDS so that means good news for numbers in a small class but Pookie sounds like he may not go on LDS mission but may not qualify.

This is the most exciting signing day in many years with a very small class. Usually you are looking to fill your last few schollies in a full class. In the last few weeks, this class went from the Watts decommitment and looking bleak to a very solid class that could get even better. Smart use of greyshirts. Curious to see who gets nicely escorted out of program and what other fringe P5 guys are given another option if more of these guys commit.

Thanks, @buffaholic .

Important addition to this is that Wallace may not be as solid to Arizona as folks seem to believe.

All right, what am I missing with Saleapaga? Seems like a lot of people are really high on him.

If Adam is correct and also the other 2 louisiana kids commit then even if we push a couple more of the lesser rated recruits to grayshirts we'll still need to free up several schollies. I know there are 2 or 3 upcoming 5th year Srs. that have rarely played and most would expect their release, but it seems like there will need to be 2 or 3 more.

It's about potential with his size and athleticism. Through the roof, but he needs coaching and S&C.

All good answers. Will be interesting to watch, BYU is a legit threat here IMO.

BYU's new coaching staff has a strong Poly component, including Sitake. But some knowledgable BYU fans are quietly questioning the very real lack of experience in the new staff. I hope the non-LDS recruits understand that BYU has a "unique", unusual culture. Multiple non-LDS athletes have lost eligibility due to honor code violations for behaviors typical of college students. Some losses are notable, but other players slip away quietly from the program. The lack of conference affiliation is a major problem. Yesterday, the BYU AD Tom Holmoe was quoted in the Salt Lake Tribune as saying that he " again acknowledged that BYU's current position as an independent in football isn't sustainable in the long term." For a multitude of reasons, P5 conference affiliation ain't gonna happen soon, if ever. BYU hasn't beaten a team that finished in the top 25 this century, and has very few such wins in its history. Currently it wins by beating 5-7 D2 and bottom of the barrel D1 teams a year. Hopefully, these recruits will see the value of working out and playing in great facilities against great competition and for being partially responsible for the re-awakening of a great football tradition at CU. Did they watch the 30 for 30 on Coach Mac1? Provo vs Boulder? No contest. BYU education vs CU? Again, no contest. College experience BYU vs CU? No contest. Competition BYU vs CU? No contest.

I appreciate your love of CU, but BYU's 2015 schedule was Nebraska, Boise State, UCLA, Michigan, Connecticut, East Carolina, Cincinnati, Wagner (FCS), San Jose State, Missouri, Fresno State, Utah State. They went 9-3 with a one-point loss to UCLA and a 4 point loss to Missouri. Only big loss was 31-0 to Michigan. "5-7 D-2 teams" Really? Hope we beat them in the battle for Saleapaga, just as you do.

I see that you meant "5-7 D-2 AND bottom of the barrel D-1 teams", but their schedule is not as weak as you indicate.
